Rated 1 out of 5 by from Complete failure as soon as warranty ended The day the warranty ended the player asked for a system update via the connected internet. I did this. Tonight I thought I had recorded a tv program as normally done. I got home to find the unit still off. No recording had commenced. I manually hit record and "NO STORAGE DEVISE IS CONNECTED" displayed. I went into the menu to discover the player no longer detects it has anything in it i.e DVD, HDD, USB, Wi-Fi Direct etc. Internet connection no longer works. Everything was perfectly okay UNTIL the player insisted on the software update. I had no option but to install. And now the player has had a total system failure. I tried the factory reset and still nothing. It unit no longer works. Until now I've never had a problem with any LG media product; tv, dvd player, Blu Ray hdd player/recorder, vhs/dvd combo x 2, lg smart tv ( nearly out of warranty!). Not at all impressed that this device has failed! Six previously recorded tv programs lost! Forever? Be vary of purchasing this particular model. That's $600 lost!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 4 months old now keeps loosing channels when it goes on standby 4 months old now keeps loosing channels when it goes on standby and wifi will connect to modem but wont connect to internet anymore, as if it had a factory reset every time but hard drive works great still able to watch all the recordings. I opened it as we got it off ebay so no warranty and found it has a poor heat sink on the main board processor just a piece of folded metal and the twin tunner get heaps hot too but the cooling fan was no where near them by the power supply can anyone help maybe a power supply issue or fried hard memore or firmware issue. Was ok when it did work was all we wanted the app store was usless as most apps was not compatible. Bit disappointed but can use the hard dirve for the pc so not a compleat waste of money. Rated 1 out of 5 by from No storage device connected I bought this unit a couple of years ago & never had an issue until a few months ago. It wouldn't record shows on the HDD. Says no storage device connected. And I can't access the recordings either. It just freezes the whole unit. Went 2 get it repaired & was told I'd have 2 replace the whole hard drive. Very disappointed. But reading other reviews this is a common problem with this unit. Very disappointing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Woefully bad No chase function. Fast-forward is a fraction of the speed of other players - 15x rather than 60x or 120x. And then fast forward frequently glitches and you are back at beginning. Interface is ugly and awkward. All over, a significant step back from earlier LG players which were far more user friendly and functional.

I have programs recorded which I cant access and when I try to record it says there is 'no storage device connected' worked fine last night but not today have tried everything from update to settings and in settings it wont even highlight recordings, but nothing solves it , please help we shouldn't have to spend $500 every 12 months on a new one

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very very disappointed! Wow. I had no idea I'd find so many disgruntled people here experiencing the same issues with this unit. Who knows how many are out there that don't know about this blog. I bought this unit about 12 months ago and it has worked well until now...I can't access the 50 or so shows I've recorded for a rainy day. I turn the thing off, and then on, like the on-screen message tells me, but nothing seems to happen. Man, I'm upset with this unit. What's more, LG invite us to post our reviews! That's a laugh. Doesn't anyone from LG read these things? Is this just designed for us to vent?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from What a waste of money I'm devastated that I didn't read the reviews on LG's on website (these reviews) before purchasing what I thought would be the answer to my not being able to get/receive pay tv. I missed not being able to live pause and record two programs while watching a third. This does not do what it says it will do, and what it does, it does badly. I had a better recorder in the 80's. the retailer wont replace this and it is just plain sub standard. I'd like my money back and a better recorder. I wonder if LG would honour their word? Dreadful.
