What People Are Saying

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Could have been 5 stars with a bit of UI work... I am not going to write about how great the picture is on this TV. It is as good as it gets, and I am sure that is detailed in other reviews at length. I am going to write a bit about the firmware. Here is the thing: Software/firmware has become at least as important as the hardware nowadays. My last TV by another manufacturer lost me due to poor firmware. This TV is vastly better and the UI is in general fantastic. With one glaring exception that pulled a full two stars off of what could have been a 5 star review. And that failure is with firmware updates. The 2 problems with the firmware update are: 1. If an update is available, you get a large prompt window over your picture every time you turn on the TV. This prompt window has to be dismissed to watch TV, which is probably what you want to do by the fact that you turned on the TV. There is no way to avoid this prompt every time you turn the TV on save for executing the update. 2. If you execute the firmware update, you loose all your custom picture settings. This is baffling. An LG OLED TV is just about the highest end TV a person can buy. There is a fair chance that the user is a picture aficionado. The default picture settings have most likely been adjusted for the specific viewing environment and personal tastes of the user. Having them go back to a factory default after an update is crazy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great TV unfortunately overshadowed by banding During the day this tv is great! The colors pop and the blacks look black. It has a great feature set. Unfortunately at night, during dark scenes there is significant banding on my set. I can see streaks of darker gray and streaks of lighter gray. Unfortunately, LG deemed this as "Normal" when I filed a warranty claim. I don't feel it is acceptable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great picture, decent price I've had my LG OLED TV for a few days. The picture is terrific and I'm happy with the TV. I have two issues. 1) The screen is very glossy and room reflections from windows, lamps, etc. are very visible. 2) Previously I've used the zoom feature to enlarge and fill in the screen on some broadcasts. The "live zoom" feature on the OLED remote is worthless for zooming. The zoom icon, which cannot be removed, blinks and moves across the screen after two minutes, apparently because the OLED TVs are vulnerable to screen burn. So who wants to use the zoom feature for only two minutes? I contacted tech and they had no solution. I was ready to return the TV when a friend advised to use the "picture aspect ratio setting" and that works just fine for zooming. I'm amazed the four tech folks I spoke to didn't know this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great picture I was hesitant to ever get rid of my plasma, but the OLED picture is outstanding. The picture has depth that is not available on any other TV. Only complaint is fast moving object, like a football, sometimes look transluscent and I haven't figure out how to get past that.

Does this tv have burn comb screen protection?

Asked by: Rysio
Hi Rysio. In the OLED Panel Settings for the LG B7A OLED 4K HDR Smart TV - 55" Class (54.6" Diag), Model # OLED55B7A is a feature called the Pixel Refresher which calibrates any issues that may arise on the screen when the TV has been turned on for a long time. Calibration takes more than an hour and can be initialized once the TV is turned off or when it is on. If it is initiated while the TV is on, the TV will automatically turn off and the Pixel Refresher will run and the TV will automatically turn on when it is done. The TV also has a Screen Shift feature which moves the screen slightly at regular intervals to prevent image sticking on the display panel...^IFV

When I play 4K content on the amazon prime app from the tv it moves back and forth between 1080p and ultra hd. What kind of things would cause this? Thx

Asked by: cjsheets24
Hello, this can occur when the TV can not receive the full signal of the 4K content. Instead of stopping, it will adjust down and then back up. The TV must have a constant 25 mbps, or higher, download speed at all time for 4K streaming. ^AC
