[LG top load washing machine noise] A noise occurs when spinning.

Troubleshooting

Is an unusual noise heard during the spin cycle?

The tub spins gradually faster after performing a motion to evenly spread the laundry repeatedly.
At this time, if the laundry is stuck to one side or is not level, a noise will occur.
In the zone where the motor spins with the maximum rotation power during spinning, a humming noise may occur from the motor.
Rest assured as it is not a product defect.

Causes and Symptoms

  • The laundry is stuck to one side.
  • An amount of laundry not suitable for washing has been added.
  • The washing machine is not level.
  • A foreign object is stuck in the tub.
  • The spin cycle works normally, but a humming noise occurs.

Try this

Is the laundry stuck to one side, creating a pounding or rattling noise?

➔ Stop washing, remove and evenly spread the laundry, and start the spin cycle.

If the laundry is not evenly spread and stuck to one side in the tub, a noise may occur.
At this time, press the Start/Pause button to stop the washing machine, remove and evenly spread the laundry and resume the spin cycle.
In particular, when washing a duvet, the spinning noise can be reduced only by selecting the Bedding course.

How it works after balancing the laundry
Solutions for each type of laundry
  • Laundry nets: It is recommended to use a laundry net suited to the amount and size of each type of laundry, adding laundry to the point of filling only 2/3 of the laundry net.
When using a laundry net, avoid washing the net separately, and wash at least 2 or 3 laundry nets with different clothing types.
Incorrect laundry net use may cause damage to the washing machine and laundry or excessive vibration or noise.
  • Duvets: If you wash two or more duvets or wash a duvet together with normal laundry, they may become tangled or stuck on one side due to differences in the materials.
Wash one duvet at a time using the Bedding course.
  • Normal laundry: If you add excessive amounts of laundry or the laundry becomes tangled, the laundry may become stuck on one side.
If the laundry becomes stuck on one side, remove some of the laundry, evenly spread the remaining laundry and operate the washing machine again.
  • A small amount of normal laundry: If you add too small an amount of laundry, the laundry may become stuck on one side. Add more laundry, evenly spread the laundry and operate the washing machine again.
  • Puffer jackets: For bulky and light laundry, washing the laundry without it being submerged under water may damage the fabric or cause the laundry to become stuck on one side.
Wash the laundry after submerging it under water.
  • Knitwear: If small laundry absorbs lots of water, washing only 1 piece can cause the laundry to become stuck on one side.
Wash two or more knitwear at a time.
  • Laundry balls: Adding excessive laundry balls may cause abnormal vibration and noise
Add only the number of laundry balls recommended by each laundry ball manufacturer.
Warning!

When washing laundry such as laundry nets and large duvets, etc., which can easily become stuck on one side, noises may often occur.
If a noise is not heard during the spin cycle with an empty tub, the product is operating normally.

Is laundry which is not suitable for washing added?

➔ Remove laundry which makes the center of gravity of the tub to be lopsided.

Check if laundry items such as foot rugs, carpets, electric blankets, rubber mats, waterproof fabrics, and stuffed animals are added.
Such laundry items may make the center of gravity of the tub to be lopsided.
It is recommended not to add such laundry items as the washing machine balances the laundry and the spin time may be longer.
Remove them after pressing the [Pause] button to stop spinning.

Is a pounding or rattling noise heard as the washing machine is not balanced?

➔ If there is shaking during the spin cycle, balance the washing machine.

During the spin cycle, the tub rotates and vibrates.
But, if the washing machine is not level, vibration as well as a noise may occur.
At first, push the washing machine forward, backward and sideways to see if it shakes.
If you feel shaking, adjust the tilting side of the washing machine.

Checking the horizontal of the washing machine

Is a rattling or squeaking noise heard during spinning?

➔ If there is a foreign object in the tub, remove it.

If a foreign object is stuck in between the wash plate and the tub or a steel wire is stuck in the tub, a squeaking noise may occur when the washboard or the tub spins.
Remove the laundry and check if there is a foreign object such as a coin or a steel wire, etc. in the tub.
If there is a foreign object stuck in, remove it using a tool.

Do the shelves or the storage closet bump into the washing machine when the washing machine operates?

➔ Arrange objects near the washing machine that may bump into the washing machine.

As explained earlier, if the washing machine has been installed properly, such vibration normally does not create a noise.
But, if it's a bit loud, check the shelves or storage closets near the washing machine to see if they bump into it when it operates.
It is recommended to install it with enough space.
