(Amman, February, 2011) – LG Air Conditioning Academy, the first of its kind in the Middle East, has recently graduated a number of students from the University of Jordan (Engineering Faculty), who had participated in the “HVAC Basics” training course held at the Academy to enhance the student’s abilities and enable them to acquire practical skills in the air conditioning systems and maintenance field.
The week-long course (40 training hours) tackled key topics that were covered in 3 days of theoretical work and 4 days of technical work.
The theoretical work included training on the basics of heat transfer, types and components of air conditioning systems, the latest air conditioning technologies, Refrigerants Comparison, Refrigeration cycles, LG’s MultiV system, Load Calculation, and other key topics.
Furthermore, the technical work included practical training on how to use tools and equipment utilized in air conditioning systems; training on welding copper tubes, examining components of air conditioning devices, System Vacuum, Refrigerant Charging; in addition to training on the maintenance of air conditioning devices and other technical aspects.
To conclude the course successfully, the 22 graduates were subject to a comprehensive exam to measure their comprehension and competency levels. Graduates were awarded certificates during a graduation ceremony held in the presence of Mr. Kevin Cha, Managing Director of LG Electronics Levant, and the Assistant Dean for Students Affairs, Dr. Modar Al-Zgoul; and Head of LG’s Air Conditioning Academy Eng. Hussam Ebbini in honor and recognition of the students’ efforts during the course. Moreover, valuable gifts were awarded to the three top-ranking students and to the best team with the highest grades.
Commenting on this event was LG Air Conditioning Academy’s Manager, Eng. Hussam Ebbini, who expressed, “This course comes in harmony with “LG’s Education Initiative” launched to enhance the LEVANT area education sector and to enrich it with academic and technical expertise. Through the Academy, LG offers training courses in the Middle East in cooperation with diverse universities and education institutions.”
Eng. Ebbini added, “This step reflects LG’s dedication towards local and regional communities and its commitment to empower and equip students with academic and technical skills that facilitate their entry into the job market and ensure the application of their acquired expertise from training courses in their future careers.
“We have future plans to hold similar training courses for students, engineers and technicians. The Academy is delighted to offer its services and extensive experience in cooperation with different institutions and agencies to guarantee professional, expert working results,” Eng. Ebbini concluded.
It is worth mentioning that the LG Air Conditioning Academy has achieved massive success during its short period of operation and since its launch in April, 2010. The Academy has actively trained over 250 trainees from diverse sectors including students, engineers, contractors and consultants from LEVANT Region.
