[LG dryer error code] The Empty Water Container or water drop symbol is displayed, and operation stopped.

Troubleshooting

Does [Empty Water Container] illuminate on the display? Does [Empty Water Container] appear during the drying cycle and the operation stop?

The indicator always illuminates before the operation of the dryer in order to remind you to check the drain container.
When you turn on the dryer, [Empty Water Container] will be displayed for 5 seconds, and then disappear.
If the drain container is full of water discharged from laundry and the drying cycle cannot be carried out any longer, the [Empty Water Container] indicator flickers, and the dryer stops operation.
In addition, if the drain container is not correctly inserted into the dryer, water generated during the drying process may get into the dryer, and the [Empty Water Container] error may be displayed.

Drain marks are displayed in the display window

Causes and Symptoms

  • The drain container of the dryer is full of water.
  • The drain hose is crushed or kinked.
  • There is a lot of air in the drain pump.

Try this

Is the drainage container full of water or the drainage container not correctly inserted?

➔ Check the drain container, empty out all the water, and reinsert the container into its position.

Check whether the water in the drain container has been emptied out before operating the dryer.
At this time, if the drain container is full of water, hold the water container with both hands and slowly pull it out whilst keeping it horizontal.
After emptying out the water, replace the water container in its correct position, and push it in until you hear a “click.”

Keep in mind that the [Empty Water Container] display and its location may vary depending on dryer models.

Is the drain hose vent or the end of the hose has been installed high?

➔ Unfold the drain hose and allow the water to flow.

Operation of the dryer may cause the drain hose to kink or vent as the dryer moves slightly due to vibration.
Also, water may not drain out properly, if the drain hose is installed high or the end of the drain hose is submerged in water.
To solve this, make sure that the height of the drain hose does not exceed 1m from the floor, and arrange it to fall naturally on a steady and even place.

Invalid example: drain hose crushed or installed high. Valid example: drain hose installed normally

Is this the first time operating the dryer after the purchase?

➔ Slowly pour 1.5L of water into the inlet of the drain container before operating the dryer.

If the dryer you use is a new product, the water may not flow properly, as there could be a lot of air in the drain pump and the hose.
In this case, pull out the drain container, slowly pour 1.5L of water into the inlet of the drain container, and reinsert the water container.
Next, operate the dryer, wait for approximately 5 minutes, take out the drain container and check whether the water has gone.
If the drain hose is connected, check if water is flowing out from the drain hose.
