[LG air conditioner remote control] The remote control is not working

Troubleshooting

Doesn’t the product operate even if you press the Run button on the remote control?

Causes and Symptoms

  • The remote control batteries are discharged.
  • The circuit breaker has tripped.
  • This remote control is not the one that was provided at the time of purchasing the product.
  • A three-wavelength fluorescent lamp has failed.
  • It is necessary to check the remote control of the air conditioner.

Try this

Is the remote control display turned off?

➔ Replace the batteries.

If the remote control display is turned off even if you press the Run button, replace the batteries, and if the display does not turn on or the screen turns on and off after replacing the batteries, replace the remote control as it is a remote control failure.

If the remote control display is normal, check the remote control using your cell phone.

You can check for remote control failure using the camera function of your cell phone.
(Some models including iPhone are not supported)
If the light flashes when you press a button on the remote control towards the cell phone camera, the remote control is normal and the air conditioner body should be inspected.

Has the circuit breaker for the air conditioner tripped?

➔ Find and reset the circuit breaker.

[Air conditioner] or [A/C] is indicated on the circuit breaker.
If the circuit breaker for the air conditioner has tripped, the remote control does not respond even if you press a button.

Is that remote control the one that you received at the time of purchasing the product?

The power and temperature control on the remote control are available for common use, but your remote control is not manufactured by LG Electronics or is a remote control for another product, and it may not be compatible or some functions may not be available.
If a ringing signal sound is not heard from the main body when you press a button on the remote control, this function is not available in the relevant model.

Check for three-wavelength fluorescent lamp failure.

The remote control may not work in places which are under strong lighting, such as a three-wavelength fluorescent lamp or neon sign.
If the remote control works well after testing it after turning off the three-wavelength fluorescent lamp, it may be a three-wavelength fluorescent lamp failure.
Note
Separating and storing batteries separately when you do not use the remote control for a long period of time can prevent the batteries from discharging and causing a remote control failure.
* If the remote control is not used for a long period of time with the batteries inserted, battery fluid may leak and cause a remote control failure.
