Updating your LG TV to the latest software version can add new features and improve system stability for a better viewing experience.
If your TV is connected to the internet, you can check for and install the latest version from the Settings menu.
If your TV isn't connected to the internet, you can download the software on a PC and install it using a USB flash drive.
Do not unplug your TV or disconnect it from the internet during the update. Doing so may cause a system error.
If you use a USB flash drive, format it as FAT32 or NTFS before you begin.

How to Update Your TV Software
Step 1. Update Your TV Over the Internet
Press the Settings or Mute button on your remote control three times. Your webOS version will appear on the screen.
- Make sure your TV is connected to the internet before you begin.
- 2020 and later TVs (webOS 5.0 and later): Press the Settings button on your remote control. Then, select All Settings, Support, Software Update, and then Check for Updates.
- 2019 and earlier TVs (webOS 4.5 and earlier): Press the Settings button on your remote control. Then, select All Settings, General, About This TV, and then Check for Updates.
- Older TVs (NetCast): Press the Smart or Home button on your remote control. Then, select Settings, Support, Software Update, Check Update Version, and then Update.
Step 2. Update Your TV Using a USB Flash Drive
- 1. Go to lge.com on your PC and select Support or Service.
- 2. Select Manuals & Software, Manuals & Firmware, or Software & Drivers, depending on your region.
- 3. Enter your TV model number to search for your product.
- 4. Download the latest firmware file, and then extract the compressed file.
- 5. Create a folder named LG_DTV in the root directory of your USB flash drive.
- 6. Copy the extracted .epk firmware file into the LG_DTV folder.
- 7. Connect the USB flash drive to a USB port on your TV.
- 8. Follow the instructions on your TV screen to complete the update.
Step 3. Turn On Automatic Software Updates
- 2020 and later TVs (webOS 5.0 and later): Press the Settings button on your remote control. Then, select All Settings, Support, Software Update, Auto Update, and set it to On.
- 2019 TVs (webOS 4.5): Press the Settings button on your remote control. Then, select All Settings, General, Support, Software Update, Auto Update, and set it to On.
- Older TVs (Netcast): Press the Smart or Home button on your remote control. Then, select Settings, Support, Software Update, and set Auto Update to On.
