[LG Refrigerator] Troubleshooting Black Sediment or Particles in Water/Ice

Troubleshooting

Are there black sediment or foreign particles in your water or ice?

Let's find out more.

Black sediment can appear if you haven't dispensed enough water after initial installation or replacing the water filter, if the filter's lifespan has expired, or if the dispenser hasn't been used for an extended period.

Try this.

Refrigerators with a Single-Stage Water Filter

➔ Replace the water filter.

After replacing the water filter, dispense 1.5 liters of water before use.
The replacement cycle for single-stage water filters is six months.

Refrigerators with a Three-Stage Water Filter

➔ Replace the water filter.

After replacing the filter, flush the system by dispensing water for 3 minutes from each lever (purified water for 3 minutes, cold water for 3 minutes).
For models without a cold water dispenser, dispense purified water for 5 minutes. The replacement cycle for each stage of the three-stage filter is as follows:

  • Stage 1 Pre-Carbon Filter: 6 months
  • Stage 2 UF Membrane Filter: 12 months
  • Stage 3 Post-Carbon Filter: 6 months
