Error codes may be displayed on your LG WashTower to alert you to potential problems with
your
appliance.
Error codes may differ by product model.
To troubleshoot the error code being displayed, select from the list below or use the search bar.
Did the washer stop during operation and display the error code LE or CE?
The LE error indicates an issue with drum rotation.
This can happen when the motor is unable to operate, which may be caused by overloading the washer,
running it
continuously without breaks, or foreign objects (such as coins) being trapped inside.
The CE error occurs when the motor control component is damaged.
This error cannot be resolved through basic troubleshooting; please request service.
Try this
To resolve the LE error, follow the steps below.
If the error is caused by a temporary glitch, you may be able to clear it by doing the following.
Unplug the power cord, wait 5 minutes and then restart the unit.
If the load is too large, the motor may not operate, resulting in no drum rotation.
➔ Remove some items from the washer. For bulky items such as blankets, use the Blanket/Duvet cycle.
Check for items trapped inside the drum.
➔ Remove any foreign objects, such as coins, from the drum.
Power off the washer, take out the laundry and remove objects using a pair of tweezers or pliers.
※ If the error persists or if the drum fails to rotate while making noise, please unplug the machine and request service.
IE stands for inlet error.
Make sure the taps are fully open. Check if there is a water outage.
Ensure that the water supply hose is properly connected.
If the hose is kinked or bent, it may block the water flow, resulting in slow filling or leaks.
Check the filter inside the water supply hose for clogs — any blockage can cause weak or no water flow.
If hot water is not coming through, confirm that your boiler is working properly and that hot water is
available
in your home.
If inspecting the inlet hoses is difficult due to how the appliance is installed, please request service.
Avoid forcefully moving the appliance, as this may result in safety hazards.
Try this
Check if water is running from the taps
➔ Open the taps connected to the washer’s inlet hoses by turning them counter clockwise.
It is important to first check that the taps are fully open.
If you have recently moved, had your boiler repaired, or relocated the appliance, please make sure that the taps are open.
Check if the inlet hoses for hot and cold water are swapped
The hot water hose must be connected to the hot water tap and the cold water hose to the cold water tap.
The tap color markings may not always match your expectations, so please ensure to check this.
Also make sure the hoses are screwed on tightly.
Make sure the inlet hoses are not pressed or kinked
➔ Straighten any bends in the hoses to ensure a smooth flow of water.
The unit may shift slightly due to vibrations during operation, which can cause the hoses to become bent or
kinked.
Inspect the hoses and straighten any bends to allow water to flow smoothly.
If bending is severe, turn off the taps, disconnect the hoses and then straighten them.
Thaw frozen taps and inlet hoses
➔ If the taps and inlet hoses are frozen due to cold weather, thaw them before continuing to use the
washer.
Water cannot be supplied to the drum if the inlet hoses or taps are frozen.
To check if the taps are frozen, disconnect the inlet hoses from the washer, and then open the taps.
If no water comes out, wrap the taps with a cloth soaked in hot water and leave it for about 5 minutes to
thaw.
To thaw inlet hoses, leave them in warm water (below 60ºC).
Once thawed, reconnect the inlet hoses and resume using your washer.
How to clean the inlet filter
First, close the taps. Disassemble the end of the hose by following the below illustrated steps.
Remove the filter using your fingers or a pair of tweezers. Use a toothbrush to clean off rust, sand and other
debris.
Make sure the drain hose is securely fixed on the rear.
➔ If the drain hose holder is removed, the drain hose will be positioned lower than the water level in the
drum.
This will cause water to drain when the drum is being filled, resulting in an IE error.
Refer to the image below and ensure the drain hose holder is properly secured in the correct position.
If the drain hose is too short for your installation setup, please purchase an ‘extension drain hose’, instead of removing the drain hose holder.
Make sure the end of the drain hose is not submerged in water.
If the drain hose is submerged, continuous drainage may occur due to siphoning, similar to how a toilet
flushes.
This means that water will keep draining if the drain hose remains in water.
Secure the drain hose so it does not detach from the drain hole.
Make sure the drain hose is installed at an appropriate height, and that it is not clogged or kinked.
Do not puncture or damage the drain hose.
If the issue persists after following this guide, it may indicate a product malfunction. Please request
service.
Is the error code OE (Water Outlet Error) shown on the display? Is water draining very slowly or not at all?
Causes
- The drain pump filter is clogged.
- The drain hose is pressed or kinked.
- The drain hose is frozen.
Try this
Check if the drain filter is clogged
➔ Open the access cover on the lower side of the washer. Disassemble the drain filter and clean it.
Cleaning the drain filter
-
1. Prepare a pan or a container for collecting water.
Open the access cover on the lower front of the washer. -
2. Take out the residual water draining hose and drain water into the prepared container.

- 4. Reassemble all components correctly after cleaning and close the access cover.
Inspect the drain hose and ensure a smooth flow of water.
➔ Unfold any bends in the drain hose.
If the appliance is installed too close to a wall, the drain hose may become kinked or tangled.
Ensure a clearance of at least 10cm at the rear and 2cm on both left and right sides. The hose should hang
down
onto a hard, even floor.
Identifying the cause of clogging
Follow these steps to determine whether the clog is caused by the washer or an external factor, such as the drain hole.
- 1. Remove the drain hose from the drain. Power on the washer and perform a Spin cycle.
- 2. If water flows out of the drain hose, the drain hole may be clogged. Please clean the drain.
- 3. If water does not drain from the hose, inspect the drain filter and the drain pump.
Clean the drain filter.
If the issue persists after cleaning the drain filter, please request service.
Check if the unit is frozen due to cold weather
➔ Thaw the drain hose before continuing to use the washer.
If the drain hose is frozen, water cannot be drained.
To thaw the system, pour hot water (50 to 60ºC) into the drum, close the door and wait 1 to 2 hours for the
drain pump to thaw.
Open the access cover on the lower front of the unit. Drain water by using the residual water hose.
If issues persist after thawing, a thorough inspection by a technician is required. Please request service.
Causes
- Laundry is not evenly distributed inside the tub. This may be caused by incorrect use of a laundry net.
- Items not suitable for machine washing are in the washer.
- The unit is not level.
The [UE] error occurs when the drum remain unbalanced, even after drum actions that redistribute the load.
Imbalance can occur if the load is too small or too large.
Try this
Check if items that should not be machine washed are in the washer
➔ For items such as pillows and cushions, remove the stuffing and only wash the cover.
Items unsuitable for machine washing may cause uneven weight distribution inside the drum and extend the
duration of the spin cycle.
Additionally, machine washing items such as bathroom mats, carpets, electric blankets, curtains, and rubber
mats
may cause damage to the items.
Items such as waterproof clothes and dolls may also damage the washer, so please do not wash them in the
machine.
➔ Wash blankets using the [Duvet] cycle and padded jackets using the [Sportswear]
cycle.
Blankets often cause the weight to be concentrated on one side, resulting in less effective spin drying.
To wash blankets, select the [Duvet] cycle and choose [medium] for spin speed.
For padded and down jackets, select the [Sportswear] cycle and choose [medium] for spin speed.
Is the load too large or too small?
➔ The washer performs best when the load is about 2/3 of the drum capacity, so please
adjust the load
accordingly.
The washer maintains balance and operates optimally when the drum is 2/3 full.
Is the laundry not distributed evenly inside the drum?
➔ Pause the washer. Take out the laundry and distribute it evenly inside the drum.
Ensure the laundry inside the drum is evenly spread out. Then, select an appropriate spin cycle for the load.
➔ Choose the right laundry net for the size and volume of the laundry.
It is advised to fill the net only up to 2/3 of its capacity.
Avoid washing a single laundry net by itself. Wash two or three nets at a time along with some clothes.
The incorrect use of the laundry net may result in damage to the laundry or washer and cause excessive
vibrations and noise.
Is the washer not level and making thumping or thudding noises?
➔ If you notice the washer shaking while spin-drying, level the washer.
The washer vibrates when spin-drying due to the rotation of the drum.
A UE error may occur during this time if the washer is not level.
Rock the washer from the front, back and side to check for unevenness.
Using a wrench, adjust the height of the leg located in the direction the unit tilts.
Ensure the legs are in firm contact with the floor.
If issues persist, a thorough inspection by a technician is required. Please request service.
Does the unit stop and display the error code dE (Door Error)?
The WashTower’s washer and dryer drums are tightly sealed to prevent water and steam from leaking out.
If laundry gets trapped in the door or if the door does not close properly, leaks may occur.
To ensure proper door closure, the dE error (dE1,dE2,dE4) is shown on the display and the unit pauses
operation.
Causes
- The door is not properly closed.
- Laundry or foreign objects are trapped between the door and gasket.
- The rubber gasket is damaged or torn.
- The door or door locking mechanism is damaged.
Try this
Make sure the laundry is fully inside the drum.
➔ Make sure that all laundry is fully inside the drum.
For large items like blankets, you may need to push them in further to allow the door to close properly.
Also, check that small items are not caught between the door and the gasket.
After checking these points, securely close the door.
Make sure to close the door properly
➔ When closing the washing machine door, press the center of the door handle from the
front.
If the dE error (dE1,dE2,dE4) occurs, pull the door open using the handle and then close it again firmly.
Once the door is properly closed, the error code will clear and the washer will resume operation.
Cases where requesting service is recommended
➔ If the door latch is damaged or bent, or if the rubber gasket is torn or has fallen out, please request
service.
The door will not close properly if the door latch is bent.
The door gasket is a key component in sealing the drum, so please do not attempt to fix it yourself.
Instead, please request service for a thorough and accurate inspection and diagnosis.
Please reach out to LG support for further assistance.
The tE error may occur when the temperature sensor malfunctions.
Causes
- The ‘tE’ error indicates a fault in the sensor that measures the water temperature inside the drum.
- Possible problems include contact issues or a malfunction of the sensor itself.
- The error may also occur if you pour very hot water into the drum.
Try this
If the error occurs after pouring hot water into the drum, unplug the power cord, allow water to cool and then reconnect the cord.
If issues persist, please request service.
Does the unit stop and display the error code vS(u5, uS)?
- The vS(u5, uS) error indicates a potential issue with the vibration sensor.
- This may be due to a contact issue or a sensor malfunction.
Try this
If the error is caused by a temporary glitch, try the following steps:
- 1. The unit is currently paused. To resume, press the start/stop
button.
-
2. If the error occurs again after pressing the start/pause button, turn off the unit, and then restart
it.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, the vibration sensor may require inspection. Please contact LG Support for assistance.
<vS error on the display>
The vS error may appear as u5 or uS on the display, as shown in the image.
The PE error occurs when the water level sensor cannot measure the water level.
Try this
The PE error may occur due to moisture in the air, particularly if the unit is installed in a humid room, such
as a bathroom.
To resolve the error: unplug the power cord, wait 5 minutes, reconnect and start the unit.
If the PE error continues to appear, please request service.
The FE error may occur when too much water is supplied to the tub.
Overfilling can occur when the water level sensor malfunctions due to excessive suds. This is often
caused by using too much detergent or the wrong type of detergent.
The error may also occur if the hose connected to the water level sensor is clogged, leading to
incorrect water level detection.
Additionally, the error may be triggered by a clogged drain filter preventing proper drainage, causing water
level in the tub to remain high.
Try this
Use high-efficiency detergent in the recommended amounts.
Front-load washing machines use less water than traditional washers, so it is important to use only the
recommended amount of detergent for high-efficiency operation.
Liquid detergent or eco-friendly detergent cause more suds than powder detergent designed for front-loader
use.
To avoid over-sudsing, always use HE detergent designed for front-load machines.
Clean the drain filter.
Large amounts of water may flow when cleaning the drain filter.
Exercise caution to avoid wetting the floor, especially if you have solid wood flooring.
How to drain residual water and clean the drain pump
- 1. Prepare a pan for collecting water. It is also useful to have a dry cloth on hand.
- 2. Locate the access cover on the lower front of the machine. You will see a large cap and a hose when you open the cover.
- 3. Pull out the residual water drain hose. Open the cap and drain water into the pan.
Caution
Securely hold the hose to prevent it from slipping out while the cap is open.
- 4. After finishing draining, close the drain hose cap and return the hose to its original position.
-
5. Open the large cap by turning it counter clockwise. Remove the drain filter and disassemble it.
Clean the filter under running water. Reassemble the filter and close the cap.
If cold weather caused the unit to freeze
➔ Thaw any ice inside the unit.
Prolonged cold weather can cause the inlet or drain hoses to freeze.
After thawing the drum, drain hose, inlet hose and taps, check if the unit operates normally.
※ If issues persist after thawing, it may indicate a malfunction. Please request service for an accurate diagnosis.
Prolonged cold weather can cause the inlet or drain hoses to freeze.
