Should I remove the protective film from my LG monitor?

Troubleshooting

Most LG monitors do not come with a protective film applied.
However, if you see a removal sticker on the edge of the screen or printed text on the display when it is turned on, a protective film is present. Please only remove it in these cases.

Important

  • Most LG monitors do not come with a protective film applied.
  • If there is no removal sticker or printed text on the screen, do not attempt to peel anything off.
  • The layer you see is the monitor's polarizer film, a critical component that controls how light is displayed.
  • Removing the polarizer film will cause the screen to turn white and permanently damage the monitor.

How do I check if a protective film is applied?

Do not remove any film from the screen unless one of the following applies.

Check for a removal sticker

  • Check the corners of the monitor screen (usually the top-right or bottom-right).
  • If a pull tab or removal sticker is visible, a protective film is present.
  • Gently peel off the protective film using the tab or sticker.

Check for printed text on the screen

  • Turn on the monitor and check if any text or logos are printed on the surface of the screen.
  • If printed text is blocking your view, a protective film is present. Carefully remove it before use.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q. I accidentally peeled off the layer on the screen (polarizer film), and now the screen looks white. What should I do?
A. If the polarizer film is damaged or removed, the screen cannot display images normally. This cannot be fixed at home. Please contact LG Customer Support to have the panel inspected. If necessary, we will advise you on repair or replacement options.
Q. Can I apply a blue light blocking or privacy screen protector that I purchased separately?
A. Yes. After cleaning the monitor surface, you can apply a third-party blue light blocking or privacy screen protector without affecting the display. However, please be careful when removing it later, as it may damage the screen.
Q. How can I confirm whether my monitor came with a protective film?
A. Most monitors do not come with a protective film applied. For more information, please contact LG Customer Support.
