Does the humming sound from the outdoor unit get loud and quiet repeatedly?
Causes and Symptoms
- During initial operation, or when you lower the target temperature, noises get louder for some time.
- Outdoor unit is on the uneven floor.
Due to the difference between the target temperature and the indoor temperature, the rotation speed for the
cooling motor(compressor) of the outdoor unit will vary.
This is similar to your car engine: you speed up, the engine becomes louder, you slow down, the sound
becomes softer.
Now, when the rotation speed of the cooling motor goes up, normally, the motor rotation sound gets loud.
Once the indoor temperature reaches the target temperature, the cooling motor starts rotating slowly and
less noises will be heard from the outdoor unit.
Try this
Do you suddenly hear the humming sound from the outdoor unit?
➔ As the indoor temperature gets close to the target temperature, the sound gets less loud normally.
When you use the cooling function for the first time, in order to reduce the indoor temperature quickly, the
cooling motor of the outdoor unit will rotate at very high speed.
After that, as it reaches the target temperature, the number of rotations for the cooling motor is
reduced.
Wait until the indoor temperature gets close to the Deactivate target temperature.
When the temperature difference is reduced, the sound will be quiet.
➔ Does the outdoor unit look tilted?
If the outdoor unit is tilted or shaking due to the uneven floor, then noises can be generated.
If the outdoor unit holder is unstable, adjust it correctly.
You can save the power bills and prevent air-conditioningitis.
