Audio cutting out

Troubleshooting

Sound Bar Audio Cuts In & Out Intermittently

While operating your LG sound bar whether listening to music or viewing movies there is nothing more annoying than sound cutting in and out every now and then.

There are two issues that could be root cause of such situation. It can be caused by Bluetooth interference or sound bar is operating without a rear satellite kit while signal source is configured to deliver true surround sound. There is no solution to the former other than hardwiring at times of heavy Bluetooth device traffic in the vicinity. As for the latter, should it be the case, there is a software update to fix the issue.

Wireless Subwoofer Audio Cuts In and Out Intermittently

Customer Testimonials
  • “Anyone having issues with the sub cutting out? I notice somewhat often that the light on the sub turns on and off. Is this a result of losing power, or connection to the soundbar?”
  • “I am having this issue too. The subwoofer is sitting 2 feet directly under the soundbar with nothing in between and it fades in and out like waves. Like every 2 seconds. In then out then in then out, etc.”
  • “Thanks for letting me know I am not the only one with this frustration. I moved my wireless modem which was placed next to the subwoofer. Set up looks messy on my living room but it seems to have worked. Moved it about 3ft away. Hope this helps someone. I love my music loud. But yes...next time will not go wireless.”
  • “I had the same problem and can confirm that it is the Wi-Fi that is interfering with the subwoofer. I had the Wi-Fi modem sitting right on top of the subwoofer and when I moved the speaker away from the Wi-Fi it worked flawlessly.”
  • “I had the same problem and I fixed it quickly with the help of an LG representative on a chat line. Basically, you need to reset the signal from the soundbar to the subwoofer. Unplug the soundbar then press the reset button at the back of the subwoofer and hold in for 10 sec. Release the button then wait 30 sec. Plug the sound bar back and that should fix your problem. It did mine.”
  • “I was able to fix this issue. I have an LG TV and LG Soundbar. First, go to TV settings > All Settings > Sound > AV Sound Adjustment and turn it On. Exit out of that and the problem should be fixed. I hope this helps.”
  • "I moved my wi-fi extender which was connected to the same power outlet as the subwoofer and the problem went away."

Troubleshooting

First, you’ll need to determine whether it’s a Bluetooth interference scenario or not.

Are you streaming music or a movie to the sound bar via Bluetooth when the audio cuts out? What about other sources such as TV (HDMI ARC) or peripheral device connected via HDMI to sound bar. Are you experiencing the same audio cutting out dilemma?

If no to the second question, it’s a Bluetooth interference situation.

If yes, then you will need to update the software version of the sound bar.

Software Update

The reason software version of the sound bar requires updating is because the unit is configured to deliver surround sound according to the source being played. However, unfortunately, there is no wireless rear satellite speaker kit connected to this audio system which is causing to react by audio cutting out every now and then.

Please also install any other more recent firmware updates listed on product page for optimal product performance.

Note Software updates for newer or more recent LG sound bars is done through the LG Sound Bar Application. Scroll down to the bottom of the product page the click on Software update. Verify the version then update it if a new version is available.
