LG TV - My TV cannot discover a USB storage device


If the connected port has a [USB Service Only] label, the USB port is a [SVC Only Port] for LG Electronics service technicians, meaning that it cannot be used for external devices.
For details, refer to the user manual.

If you connect a USB storage device to the TV, you can easily enjoy the content of the USB storage device with your TV.
Connect the USB storage device to the [USB Input] port on the back of the TV and set the input mode to USB Storage Device.

Try this

Connect the USB storage to the TV.

➔ Connect the USB storage device to the [USB input] port on the back of the TV.

Use a USB memory device of 32 GB or less or an external hard disk of 2 TB or less.
Storage devices with too much capacity may not work smoothly.

Note
To ensure proper functioning, format the USB storage device into either the FAT32 or NTFS file system supported by Windows.
In the case of an external hard disk, use one with a rated voltage of 5 V and a rated current of 500 mA or less.
Otherwise, the USB storage device may not work properly, or the operation may not be smooth.

Set the input mode to USB.

➔ Press the [External Input] button on the TV remote and select [USB Flash Drive] on the TV screen.

You can browse and play files on the USB storage device.

※ Note that supported file extensions and codecs may vary depending on the model, so please refer to the user manual.

➔ Press the [Home] button on the TV remote and select [Media Player] among the apps.

1. Select the USB storage device containing the file you wish to play.

2. You can select the file types you wish to display.

Wait! Here are more tips!
To disconnect a USB storage device, select the device to be disconnected from the external input list on the TV and press the [Eject] button.
Do not remove the USB storage device without using [Eject], as this may cause errors on the USB storage device.

How to eject a USB device from products released in 2019 and onwards (WebOS 4.5 or later)

1. Press the External Input button on the TV remote and select [ThinQ Home Dashboard]

2. Select USB 3 [USB Flash Drive].

3. Select [Eject] to safely remove the USB device.

[USB Input] Checking and using the port

The audio works okay but the Settings menu does not appear, even when you press the Menu button on the TV remote or the TV.

① Insert a USB memory stick or storage device with video files you wish to play to the USB port.
② The USB device is automatically discovered and the menu appears. Or, you can select the USB device manually in [External Input].
If you are using the set-top box remote control, the TV menu does not appear.
