How can I improve the battery life of my LG Android device?

Your Screen, Wireless Communications, and Apps can affect your battery life. Making small adjustments can help improve your battery's performance.

Note: Some Settings, Menus, or Icons may differ from that of your device, this article should only be used as a general reference.

Display brightness is a large part of battery usage, using a lower brightness setting or enabling Auto Brightness may improve battery usage.

  1. From the home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Display tab.

    OR

    Swipe down from the top of the display to open the Notification Panel.

  2. Tap the Auto Brightness switch or checkbox to enable.

  3. Adjust the Brightness slider to a lower setting.

If Wi-Fi is enabled, but not connected to a network, disable to help reduce battery usage.

  1. From the home screen, tap Apps   > Settings   > Wi-Fi.

  2. Tap the Wi-Fi switch or checkbox to disable Wi-Fi.

OR

  1. With the screen powered on, swipe down from the top of the display to open the Notification Panel.

  2. Tap the Wi-Fi toggle to disable.

Note: When not connected to a Wi-Fi network, your phone may use wirless data.

  1. From the home screen, tap Apps   > Settings   > Bluetooth.

  2. Tap the Bluetooth switch or checkbox to disable.

OR

  1. With the screen powered on, swipe down from the top of the display to open the Notification Panel.

  2. Tap the Bluetooth toggle to disable.

Disabling GPS may reduce battery usage but can also effect the operation of system and third party applications. It is advised to change the GPS settings for specific application.

  1. From the home screen, tap Apps   > Settings   > Location access or settings.

  2. Tap the Location switch(s) or checkbox(s) to disable GPS service(s).

OR

  1. With the screen powered on, swipe down from the top of the display to open the Notification Panel.

  2. Tap the GPS toggle to disable.

Note: Disabling GPS from the Notification Panel may not disable GPS for system level applications.

Closing running applications can help reduce battery usage but can also effect the operation of system and third party applications.

  1. Tap and hold the Home button or tap the Recent apps button

  2. Tap and hold on an application in the list, then swipe left or right to close.

OR

  1. Tap and hold the Home button > Task Manager or from the home screen, tap Apps > Task Manager.

  2. Tap an application to close.
