The residential compound area in the Abu Dhabi International Shooting Club is a mixed-use community development occupying 385 villas with 232,735 square metres west of the Khalifa A City in the United Arab Emirates capital, Abu Dhabi. The area is dedicated to setting a standard to all sustainable projects in the region. The project owner, IMCC Group, is recognized in the !eld of sustainability and they ensure that all their projects have pro!table solutions to sustainability design and construction challenges Their aim was to receive the rating of Estidama Compliance Pearl 1 from the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Rating System upon completed of this project. Estidama is an initiative developed and promoted by the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC) who is internationally recognised for largescale sustainable urban planning and for rapid growth. Estidama’s goal is to create an always improving quality of life on four pillars of sustainability: environmental, economic, social and cultural whilst preserving and enriching Abu Dhabi’s physical and cultural identity.
Conserving energy and supporting
The most fundamental element for the project was that the units were required to be eco-friendly and energy efficient. The design initially was for 1 to 1 systems (1 Outdoor units to 1 Indoor units) and was switched to Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems when the client became aware that VRF units conserve energy. The main criteria while looking for the right units was to have eco-friendly units that also would reduce the electricity bills to future tenants; reasonable compressor noise-levels that are located next to the terrace; reliable cooling units that would work at the best standards during the scorching
The LG Multi V system offers superior load matching, preventing constant cycling or large temperature swings with software that allows energy consumption based on building design, orientation and location. Owing to VRF technology, multiple indoor units can be connected with single outdoor unit. LG Multi V is capable of long length piping up to 1000 meter. This realized much of energy saving comparing with 1 to 1 system. The project is the largest LG Multi V project globally and LG provided optimized solution with combination of units within reasonable noise levels and lower total cost of ownership. MULTI V III uses various low noise technologies. It helps minimized operation noise by using a compressor with BLDC motors, low noise fan motors, new sound proof technology, outdoor fans, and a newly developed shroud shape. Achieved a 30 Percent Reduction in Energy Consumption owing to the VRF system With sustainability being a key focus for building, LG’s Multi V VRF system helps achieve key targets for sustainability programs and the variable refrigerant “flow air conditioning systems are engineered for sustainable green buildings. MULTI V II systems installed at the site comprise 497 outdoor units as well as 3008 indoor units. The total capacity of the system is 14,094kW.
The LG Multi V air conditioning solution provided the club with lower total cost of ownership (TCO). The Multi V III’s coefficient of performance (COP) has reported a 4.3, which means a 30 percent reduction in energy consumption due to LG’s VRF system which incorporates proprietary technology and high pressure oil return (HIPOR) technology used directly with the system’s inverter compressor, called the V-Scroll.
