TV- Pixel Outage or Colored Dots on Screen

COLORED OR BLACK DOTS ON SCREEN

The plasma or LCD panel is a high technology product with resolution of two-six million pixels. In some cases, fine dots can be seen on the screen. These dots are deactivated pixels and do not affect the performance of the television.

Determine whether the dots are bright or dark

Bright dots are dots that appear colored on dark backgrounds or black screens. Switch to an input that does not have a device connected to get a black screen, then check to see how many bright dots are shown.

Dark dots are dots that appear black when there is a white screen or colored image on the screen.

Depending on the number of pixels not functioning, service may need to be scheduled

It is not acceptable to see any bright dots on the screen. If any are present, the television will require service.

The following table will determine whether the unit requires service for pixel outage. The unit MUST have the minimum amount of dark dots per screen size to qualify for warranty repair:
