[LG air conditioner odor] The odor gets worse when cold air does not come out. There is an odor when using the product in fan mode

Troubleshooting

There is less odor when the cold wind comes out(outdoor unit operates).

When the indoor temperature is low, odor particles tend to move slowly, thus making odors spread slowly.
When the indoor temperature is low, odor particles tend to move slowly, thus making odors spread slowly.

Causes and Symptoms

Different operational principle is applied when the cold wind comes out of the air conditioner(cooling operation) than when the general fan(fan mode) operates.
Therefore, there are less odors in fan mode than during cooling operation.

Note

Why is the condensed water generated?

As the coolant is supplied to the heat exchanger, cold wind is let out, and in the moment, hot indoor air, moisture, and odor particles turn into the condensed water at the indoor heat exchanger, and the resulting water is drained out of the product through the drain hose.
Cooling operation : When condensate containing indoor odor particles is produced, it is discharged to the outside

What about [Fan] mode if it only generates wind with no coldness?

Since it does not generate cold wind, there will be no water(condensed water) in the air conditioner and there is no way for water to exit to the outside.
So, instead of odor particles exiting through the drain hose together with water, it will be discharged together with wind to the outside.
In addition, as the temperature rises, odor particles tend to move faster, thus odors will be detected faster.

Try this

Set the cooling temperature as low as possible.

➔ Set the power cooling temperature to 18°c(64.4℉) and operate it for one hour.

When using the air conditioner, use the auto drying function.

Odors can be generated due to water(condensed water) in the part(heat exchanger) that generates cold wind.
After using the air conditioner, dry it by using the fan mode or auto drying mode for more than 10 minutes to create a more refreshing environment.

Wise daily life with air conditioners

Clean the heat exchanger inside the air conditioner.

1. After removing the filter, mix the water and citric acid at the ratio of water(1000㎖) (0.26gal) : citric acid(3g) (0.10oz) and spray a sufficient amount of this liquid to the heat exchanger inside the air conditioner.
After removing the filter, mix water and citric acid in the ratio of water (1000): citric acid (3 g) and spray enough into the internal heat exchanger
2. Set it to low temperature of 18°c(64.4℉) and operate it for more than 1 hour.
As odor particles and impurities exit along with water, it is possible to reduce bad odors.
