What People Are Saying

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love all the features I bought this LG air conditioner after reviewing it in consumer reports. It cool quickly and efficiently, it has a dry mode a a drain to de-humidify your room. The fan is powerful and has the ability to cool a large area. I would definitely recommend this to others and purchase it again. I noticed it sold out early in the season from the location I purchased it from.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HIGH QUALITY AIR CONDITIONER This is by far the best air conditioner I've ever bought. The overall appearance is modern looking and adds some style to your room. The touch pads are nice because all you have to do is lightly push on them. You don't have to push down hard or repeatedly touch it for it to work the way you want it to. I always use the "energy saver." In addition to it saving energy, it really does make a difference on my electric bill. A lower bill works out fine for me. The remote control makes things a lot easier for us couch potatoes. It amazes me how quiet this air conditioner is. We don't have to turn up the TV to hear it when the air conditioner is on. As far as cooling, this baby really pulls it's weight. I have it in my living room. Not only does it cool that room, it cools my dining room, kitchen, entrance way and hallway! I would recommend this to anyone and everyone. Finally, something that isn't too good to be true!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LG 12,000 BTU Air Conditioner I really like this unit alot because it's very easy to put it together right out of the box... Starts up nicely and it's very quiet when it's on... The only thing I didn't like about this unit is that the front grill panel it's very hard to snap the right bottom conner on where the wire sticks out from it always comes undone when putting it back on which LG Products could of made the better and easier to put it back on folks...other then that it keeps my second floor loft area nice and cool when it's really hot and humid outside... I also like the remote control very small and easy to use.. Will buy another LG Product again in my books

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Installation could have been better designed. I am happy with the functioning of this unit. I was disappointed with the instructions and the actual process of the installation. The screws provided were for the most part hard to fit. Seems to me more care could have been used in designing the installation process. Like self tapping sheet metal screws. The video makes it look easy, but it took me almost three hours to install. (I am a building contractor.) The printed directions were too small to read easily and were not easy to comprehend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product I purchased two of these window units in April of 2012. I live in the heat and humidity of Florida, so they have gotten a good workout over the past two summers. I need to replace my central system, but because these work so well, I haven't been in any rush. My home is 1,388 SF and the two units cool it easily to 75 degrees. Once I turn them on in the spring, they are never turned off until fall arrives. They are running now at the end of the second summer. Not only do they do a great job, but my utility bill is about $50 less each month than it was with the central unit. The only negative I can think of is that some would consider them a little on the noisy side. I sleep with one right near my head. At first it bothered me, but soon became "white noise" and I don't even notice it anymore! I highly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! I was very surprised at how powerful this system is. It cools off my living room, kitchen and hallway with no problem. This was a very hot summer and we did not feel it inside our home thanks to the LG air conditioner. The remote is an added bonus! I will be buying a second one for our home.

Stopped blowing cold air. Most common part needed for repair?

Hello, We purchased this item new about 2yrs ago and it has recently stopped blowing cold air. It still turns on and blows, just not cold. As I live in South FL this is a problem that I would like to fix quickly. Which part/parts are commonly the culprit in this event? I need to get this thing repaired ASAP. I appreciate the help in advance. Thank you.

You may want to try troubleshooting the LG 12,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner with remote, Model # LW1212ER. Does the air conditioner cool at night and not during the day? If it does, then it is capable of cooling. It's performance can be greatly reduced on exceptionally hot days. You can try unplugging the unit for 30 seconds and while it is unplugged, check the Fresh Air Damper to make sure it is open and then close it. Use a stop watch to time the 30 seconds because the test will not work if the unit is not unplugged for 30 seconds. Plug the unit back in then turn it back on and set it on the COOL mode, set the temperature at its' lowest setting and the fan speed on high. You should hear the compressor turn on. It may take about 30 seconds but when it does turn on, put your hand in front of the discharge vents to see if it is cooling. If the outdoor temperature is above 95°C then you might want to try leaving the unit running during the day and raise the temperature up a little so it can maintain a more stable temperature so that when you decrease the temperature, it will cool more efficiently. Check to make sure that the unit is not installed in direct sunlight as that will result in reduced performance too. The sunlight hitting on the case will get it very hot and it will have difficulty discharging the heat. YOu will need to put an awning or find a way to shade the unit to keep the direct sunlight off it. If you have never had the unit serviced since you have had it, you should. Maintenance is the single most important thing you can do to make sure that the unit will function at peak performance. Clean the Air Filter and have the outside coils cleaned. Often, dust, pollen debris and other environmental particulates will build up on the coils and prevent proper cooling. If you're careful, you can try using a garden hose and a bristled brush to clean the coils or check with your local hardware store for an air conditioner coil cleaner. If none of the above troubleshooting tips worked for you, the unit may need a repair service...^IFV

I can't figure out how to install the frame guides on the chassis - can you help?

Asked by: LyndaM
We appreciate your interest in this air conditioner. There are 2 small holes on the underside of the cabinet for use with these Frame Guide pieces. The open side of the device should be facing the COLD AIR RETURN. If there are additional questions about this device or its accessories, please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000.

window too large for installation kit

To whom it may concern, I was wanting to know how to install the 12,000 btu Lg window unit in a window that is about 49 in wide and about 23 in tall? The window is also a metal frame, so it would not be possible to use any screws. Thank you for your time

What size outdoor air cover should i get

Asked by: aliceq
That is a good question. Unfortunately, LG does not recommend any specific type of outdoor air cover. Whatever you choose to cover the air conditioner with, just be sure that all of the vents on the air conditioner are covered so that no bugs or debris get into the air conditioner. If you have any additional questions or concerns, you may contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000.
