What People Are Saying

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great This unit is very quiet. Keeps the apartment comfortable with the temperature control. It does flash red for the filter to be cleaned quite often.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent product I had my window ac/heat unit over a month and with the temp change I has a chance to use it to it's fullest potentials and were not disappointed. My rooms were cool and or warmed to my life expectations.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Only used the heat so far Can’t give it 5* until I test out the AC but the heater works well enough. It’s in my tack room at the barn. Only 1/2 of the room is insulated so it has to work pretty hard to keep the 450 sq ft warm. I’m hoping it is more efficient and less costly than running two ceramic towers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple, easy to operate What I had been looking for. Can serve its purpose for 3 different areas. Tried the airconditioner first and noticed the effect at 24 feet within minutes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Damaged out of box! It is running well now, but unit was damaged right out of the box. After removing old unit, modifying for new, larger unit, then installing, it did not run. Removed it to examine and found that the fan would not run due to the slinger being broken off. We had to brake slinger into short pieces to remove. Then the fan was rubbing the stationary ring, so entire motor mount had to be shimmed to free the fan rotation. An average homeowner would have given up before all the frustration and hand cuts fixing it. The box looked bad before removing the unit, but it was damaged in the factory.

What gauge electric wire does the LW 1216HR air conditioner/heater require?

Asked by: Robert12
Wire is sold based on several factors. The most important part is the gauge, sometimes referred to as AWG (American Wire Gauge). The LG 12000 BTU Window Air Conditioner, Cooling & Heating, must be plugged into a standard 250 V, 3-wire grounding receptacle protected by a 20 Amp. time delay fuse or 20 Amp. circuit breaker. The amount of power that will be running over that line will require a 12 gauge wire. However, they are certain circumstances where a larger wire size may be needed even if the amp requirement does not seem to justify it. If your run is longer than 100 feet, inside a conduit or ganged with other wires where the heat dissipation may be inhibited, you may need to go to the next largest wire (10 gauge). According to the National Electrical Code, the overcurrent protection cannot exceed 20 amperes for 12 AWG copper. We strongly advise that you consult a professional with any questions about special circumstances...^IFV
