What People Are Saying

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Will not cool. It has only a one year warranty. I have never owned a window unit that would not last at least 5 years. Most units have a 5 year warranty on the compressor. LG does not.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from it is loud and does not ocellate at all. Last summer I purchased 4 LG air condioners with heat for a second home. It is an old house and window units with heat sounded perfect. I looked hi and low to find that type with oscillating features. That was the main feature I wanted. It was not until recently I was where I could use my new units that I discovered they say they oscillate but none of them do and the noise they make is annoying. I have used window units for years so I am familar with how they sound. When reporting this to the store they said to bring them back, for what the same thing? Not to mention it cost a fortune to have them put in when I got them to where they were going. The house is 2 hours from the store. Now they said to bring the receipt and we can talk about it. All I want is for someone to come make the oscillating part work, that is the only reason I got this model and I did buy 4. It heats real well on a mild day but you need other heat on really cold days. The a/c part is fine and I like the remote. My main complaint is the fact I paid for a product that is supposed to oscillate and it does not. In an old house that makes all the difference in the world. The other complaint is it is loud. My old a/c was much quieter and the oscillation was great. I feel like this is an issue for the company that made the product not the retailer. Please help.

Are any of your window air conidtioner units made in the USA?

I'm looking for and 20000 Btu or greater window units that are made in the USA. Is the model number LW2413HR made in the USA?
Asked by: carymoraleja
LG is an international company with factories worldwide and parts for the air conditioners can be shipped from any of those factories and then the unit be assembled in another country, typically Canada, Mexico or the US for units sold in the US. Where the unit is assembled is what will be stamped on the unit as 'Country of Manufacture' so depending on the distributor there is no way to know which unit was made where without looking at the label on the unit...^IFV

Does the unit have a thermostat on it in the heat mode?

I have a 23500 heat/cool AC unit. When I run it in the heating mode, it runs continuously & never shuts off like it doesn't have a thermostat. To test it, I measured the room temperature which was 65 degrees. I set the heat temperature on the AC to 62 degrees. Theoretically it should not run or would run only briefly & shut off. However it just ran continuously. Is something wrong?
Asked by: dennisios
We appreciate your interest in this air conditioner/heater unit. According to the descriptions on page 16 of the owner’s manual, it appears that the heater does not operate with the thermostat. The COOL mode runs to reach the desired temperature. It uses the thermostat to make such a determination. The HEAT mode states that the heater runs and heats the room. No thermostat is involved in this.

what gas &can it be rechared

Asked by: ranchbean
We appreciate your interest in this air conditioner. The proper coolant gas for this unit is posted on the MODEL/SERIAL number label. The unit is not designed with a recharge port, as it is a sealed system. If the device is not cooling properly, then it will likely require service. Surge protector on cord keeps tripping?

After a strenuous day of working the a/c stopped. The room was very hot and so condensation was heavy on the entire unit. Noticing the surge protector had tripped I went to reset it. It instantaneously tripped again. This happens every time I check. It only flashes the function led while it clicks back off. It is on a 20 amp circuit breaker. This breaker does not trip. It is plugged into an extension cord built to run 240v welders I know the load is not too much for the cord. I made sure the unit was dry from the condensation (ran a dehumidifier in the room with fans for 24 hrs) and tried to plug it in again. Same thing again. Do the cords go bad or is something else wrong? Unit is LG #LW2413HR

Can the fan be programmed to shut off in the heating mode?

The unit has performed well in both modes. The only issue is the fan runs constantly in the heat mode. We are not at our cabin for 2 to 3 weeks at a time. I would like to leave the unit son, set low.
Asked by: OLDMAN27
We appreciate your interest in this air conditioning unit. Unfortunately, no; this device does not have a method available to automatically turn off the fan while in the heating mode.

amybout my ac with heat

I took my unit out of the window for the winter which is in a building I rent. I also closed the hole up but now I realize I need the heat. Can I set it on something inside and run it like this just for heat.
Asked by: mybuckbuck
I apologize, but no; it is not recommended to have this air conditioner installed in any manner other than that for which it was designed: namely, a window installation.
