Rated 4 out of 5 by from Would've been nice if it was not delivered damaged Returning tomorrow! I like the ac well enough but since it was damaged upon arrival I tried to get both LG and JC Penny to send a replacement front panel but they both kept blowing me off, so I tested out the ac and while it works okay, I need a fully functioning window ac and this is not that, so I am returning it in it's damaged box with all the fixings tomorrow morning. Heading to BJ's to buy a different brand. I really liked the LG AC (not the best made product, which is probably why it broke during the shipping) but usually they do better than this incident. However, this was enough to make me change brands for a while. Maybe they will do better in the future?!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed Bought on sale, over the winter for almost half the price. Installation was easy enough, took about 1 hour. Cooling the entire place. Love the energy mode & remote. Have used it approx one and a half months. No issues, couldn't be happier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LG 8000 BTU After a little over a week of using the LG 8000, I am very pleased with the A/C! The high speed fan is very strong on aids in cooling the room off quickly and the low speed is quit and maintains the temperature.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Cool That The Floor Is Even Cold! I've had the unit for a few weeks and it gets run every night to cool an upper bedroom. We previously had a 5000 BTU unit and it struggled to keep a 16' x 20' space with high ceilings cool during the hottest months. This 8000 BTU unit is fantastic. It takes about 30 minutes to bring the temperature down from very warm to very comfortable. It was noisy (internal rattle) during the first night, but seems to have corrected itself and is quiet enough to sleep with now. It was bigger than the 5K unit so I would recommend an external brace/bracket so that the stress is not on your window.

If unit is 19 9/16" why does opening need to be 22" to install as stated in another Q&A? Thank you.

Asked by: Min987
When the ENERGY STAR® LG 8000 BTU Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW8016ER is being installed, you will need to hold it to get it in place. The unit weighs 58 lbs so you need to make sure that you have a firm grip on it to prevent it from falling out of the window while you install it. The difference between 19 9/16" (i.e the width of the unit) and a window that is 22" is 2 7/16" which means that you have an opening of 1 7/32" on either side of the air conditioner that you can get your hands through to securely hold 58 lbs. Your hands would need to be very small to fit into a smaller opening than that. Then after you have it placed in the window and you have lowered the upper sash to help hold it securely in place while you finish the installation, you will need to close the gaps on either side of the window so that the hot air from outside does not enter the room. A left and right frame guide are supplied with the air conditioner, each of which has a curtain on it that you use to close the openings. The frame guides will not fit into a smaller opening, hence the minimum window opening of 22"...^IFV

Do you have to have this air conditioner in the energy saver mode to RUN?  Also what is the lowest temperature you can set the air conditioner to be  60?

Asked by: BrodieCooper
Hi BrodieCooper. The Energy Saver mode on this ENERGY STAR® LG 8,000 BTU 115-Volt Window Air Conditioner with Remote, Model # LW8016ER is a selectable mode and you do not need to have the air conditioner set on that mode for it to run. The other modes are Cool and Fan. In Energy Saver mode, the unit is designed to run until the set temperature is reached at which point, the compressor and the fan will stop. Approximately every three minutes, the fan will turn on and check the room temperature if cooling is needed. IN Fan mode, the compressor runs and cools the room. You can adjust circulation fan speed. In Fan mode, the fan circulates but the compressor does not run. The thermostat monitors the room temperature to maintain the desired temperature and it can be set between 60˚F ~86˚F (16˚C ~ 30˚C)...^IFV

How do you set the 24 hr timer to turn on at designated time, and shut off at a specific time?

Asked by: Meaghan122
Pressing the Timer button on the remote control when the unit is off will allow the option to select between 1 hour and 24 hours. This is the amount of time that will pass before the unit turns on.
