Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet and stylish! I bought this dishwasher at Amazon website. I have it for about 1 year now, which I replaced my old GE, which was very noisy and did no clean well. t love it so far. Everything I hoped for. Recommend. Installation was easy to understand the instructions. The lay-flat tines, 3rd rack are its most useful features. Haven't had the occasion to use the Steam yet, so...Extremely quiet. The only noise is not from the machine per se but from whatever dishes / however you stack the dishes within it. My opinion is that for the price, compared to others below/above it, this is the best compromise between getting a lot of features you want but not paying profession kitchen or rich-wife custom kitchen remodeling prices. I also love the cute song it plays when the dishes are done!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 3rd rack awesome for mom of toddlers We bought this back in November of 15. Our old one was very loud, so my mother in law bought us a new one for Christmas. When I started my hunt, I had an infant and a 2 year old, so a must for me was quiet with a 3rd rack. After research, I came across the LG, and I have been happy with my decision since we brought it home! It is very user friendly, the 3rd rack is always full of knives, pacifiers, bottle nipples, sippy tops, toddler spoons and forks, love that feature, as well as the second rack being able to adjust the height, as well as all purple being movable. I'm very very happy with this, and any mother of toddler or kids, would absolutely love this dishwasher, its so quiet and can wash a lot! My only honest complaint, if the bottom rack falls of the tracks, I tend to cuss it as its full and trying to get it back on the track!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this dishwasher! This dishwasher is so quiet, you don't even know it's on. I'm still trying to figure out the settings, but so far, I love it! I am so glad I bought this one! The one and only downfall is that the settings are on the inside of the door and are a little difficult to see. I wish the settings lit up when you turn on the power. Other than that, it's perfect!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Features! Granted, I only have it in operation for a few days and probably less than ten cycles (including my own DIY installation leak tests before handing it over to the wife), but so far it is excellent. Everything we hoped for. I've not had any issue other people wrote about tines and plates falling over. I will say that under a load the tines do feel a little less "solidly" fixed as it does in the store display, but not excessively loose; if I am careful, take a modicum of give-a-5h1t time to do it right, none of the tines / plates fall over in the wash. I'm not "babying" it, either - just taking time to stack carefully. Have not used the steam yet (no occasion to have-to) but have used the Quick and Normal cycles. The Normal uses about 2/3 or half less water than the Quick, but the Normal is about twice-three times as long as the Quick. Not sure yet my locality if electric or water consumption is more expensive, so... The flexibility with the lay-flat tines is AWESOME!!! I used to have to jerry-rig fit the pots and such onto fixed tines in my old dishwasher, and moving the vessel around so it actually sits flat around the tines used to mean I lost square inches of the lower rack due to dead space. Not anymore! With the selective lay-flat tines I can drop as many tines flat as I need, and keep up those tines I want to keep up, for maximum space utilization. The 3rd rack silverware tray(s) are great, too! I don't even use the conventional basket half the time anymore. To properly use the 3rd rack takes a little bit more time and effort than the olden days of simply dumping a mass of forks into a basket, but the time spent is well worth it. Racks are adjustable for height, too, but haven't had to employ that feature just yet. Dishes come out dry and clear (except plastics, but I NEVER had plastics ever come out dry no one that I've ever know. Happy. Would recommend. If this thing stays great I will probably not remember to come back and update this post, so if you never hear form me again than all is well. I'd probably only come back to edit/add a follow-on if it sux later on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great features and quietness When we first tried our dishwasher we could not believe how quiet it was. I really like all of the features that it has.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet and Roomy Extremely quiet and effective operation. We wouldn't even know the dishwasher was operating without viewing the well placed status lights on the front. Easy operation and multiple mode options via the integrated controls. Very roomy inside with three racks that are adjustable in height as well as in configuration. Have had no problem cleaning everything from normal plates and utensils to pots and pans without fail. Well worth the extra pricetag.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cleans well. That's about it This dishwashwer cleans really well, but despite my efforts to clean out the filter, it makes a really whiney sound while washing (which I was told was because the filter was dirty). Also, the bottom rack, no matter how I distribute the weight of the dishes, ALWAYS comes off the rollers, and I have to fight to get it back on even after removing the dishes. It's hard on my back to have to keep re-distributing dishes because the rack can't stay in place. I never had this issue with any other dishwasher.

Everything comes out chalky white

Phosphates are also used as a fertilizer. It was causing algae to grow too much and aquatic life couldn't survive in our great country's waterways. The water softener really helps. : )

What do the lights on the front of the dishwasher mean?

Asked by: Steve j
When a cycle is running, the SignaLight indicators will illuminate for the active stage: Model with 4 LEDs: WASH – RINSE – DRY – CLEAN; Models with 2 LEDs: OPERATING – CLEAN; Models with 1 LED: OPERATING (Flickering) / CLEAN (Lighting). Once the cycle is complete, the CLEAN light will illuminate for four minutes.

I am very sorry!! But I am not happy with my 3rd rack being divided in two pieces. There is any way of I get a single piece rack like the other brands?

Asked by: Mfics
I apologize, but no; this dishwasher is designed to utilize only this particular design of cutlery rack. The design is such that one side can have its height adjusted, without having to do the same to both. This information can be noted on page 20 of your Owner’s Manual.

A box lights up around each control button on the control panel, but the actual text commands do not light up so I can't read them. Is there; 1) an on/off or dimmer for the text; 2) a problem, or; 3) a feature (the way it's designed)? It's brand new.

Asked by: MichaelJM1960
We appreciate your interest in this dishwasher and its features. The description given is normal operation. The text of these buttons is not designed to be lit; rather the outline of the buttons are all that will shine.

How does the stemware fit

Asked by: Doss2063
We appreciate your interest in this dishwasher. Stemware will typically be arranged on the upper rack. The upper rack should be adjustable in height, depending upon the need of more room.

Is it supposed to take the lettering off my measuring cup

Asked by: Flyman91
We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this dishwasher. Such an occurrence is not normal operation. This will generally only occur due to the age or condition of the item being washed, or if the item is not dishwasher safe.

I am thinking about buying a dishwasher with steam.

My water is very high in lime and calcite will this clog the steam generator, If so can I use a dishwasher cleaner to control the problem? If I use a dishwasher cleaner how affective is it in keeping the dishwasher in service, will I get the same life out of it as a DW used in a soft water situation?
Asked by: Singledad
I can't believe nobody has answered this question!! Well I WILL NOW ANSWER!! ________ HARD WATER WILL MOST DEFINITELY SHORTEN THE LIFE OF ANY DISHWASHER! I'm not familiar with steam units but have had to replace more than one dishwasher. Since the EPA banned the use of phosphate in any cleaning product sold in the USA, it is ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE to get "sparkling clean" dishes

Recommended Dishwashing Detergent for Hard Water

Hello - We have recently purchased the 8874ST model and are not happy with the performance. Although, LG markets that you don't need to scrub the dishes, we have tried that on numerous occasions and the dishes come out just as we loaded them. We have tried different cycles, including the steam cycle, but the results haven't changed. Also, we live in an area where the water is extremely hard and we are using a rinse aid with each cycle. However, the glasses always come out with water marks. We are frustrated at this point and don't know if we need to change something - perhaps the detergent? Can someone please help us or contact us as soon as possible. Thanks.
Asked by: ANUJ
Unfortunately, there's not much you can do about the effects of hard water. This is due to the EPA. The EPA has abolished the use of Phosphate in ANY cleaning products. For a very short time I was able to purchase a wash booster that contained only Phosphate. It COMPLETELY REVERSED ALL EVIDENCE OF HARD WATER! No spots, no haze, just sparkling clean dishes. But...we are no longer able to purchase Phosphate anywhere within the USA. SO...the key to sparkling dishes in hard water is Phosphate. BUT...we can't get it in the US so we either live with hazy spotted dishes, or, we install an expensive softener system. Just SUCKS!!
