Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very happy with my dryer, too!!! Went in search of a new dryer because mine had gone out. Actually went to look at another dryer, but this one came highly recommended by the sales person. I have been very happy with the performance of the dryer. My clothes do not take near as long to dry as they were before and the dryer runs so quietly! Would definitely buy this product again!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product has phenomenal features. I bought this Dryer on 3/19/2015 and was very impressed(while in the store) with its pricing and visible features. When it was delivered, the men were very efficient and professional and gave me a quick run through of the controls. When they left, I though that it was going to be complicated and that I would have to do a lot of reading of the instructions, but to my surprise, I picked it up within 10 minutes, while drying my first load, without having to do any reading at all. Because all the information that you need is already listed on the control knobs. I was so very impressed. The machine is very quiet and the alarm that goes off , when the load is completed is very audible and cute. Also the feature when you first put the load in that reminds you to clean the filter is phenomenal, because the lights comes on automatically and it makes you think that something is wrong, but it is just a reminder and causes you to check the filter anyway. This is a good thing because I know for myself, I would just place the clothes in the dryer and wouldn't think to check the filter, unless I had seen that the clothes were not properly dried or were still damp after it had run a complete cycle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Quality and Features I don't write a lot of reviews although I read them and try to weigh their veracity. Recent events with our LG dryer spurred me to write one though. Our dryer had reached about 50 weeks of good quality drying when it started taking longer to dry. By about 55 weeks (when the warranty is a year) it kept stopping without drying the clothes. I emailed LG and they were very responsive. I called the 800# and they ran a cool feature of the LG washer and dryer, the Smart Diagnosis, over the phone. The dryer told the computer that it was being falsely accused and it was actually running fine. The dryer kept stopping because it has a sensor that said the vent duct was blocked. This can not only be a problem for the dryer or damage it, but start a fire in the duct work. After talking to customer service, I went outside and sure enough some birds had built a nest in the warm vent. Once that was cleared out and the duct cleaned, the dryer operated normally (and probably said "I told you so.") So it dried clothes nicely for over a year, refused to operate when it wasn't safe, and provided clear diagnostics of what the problem was. The washer and dryer are also so quiet that we can barely hear them with the laundry room door closed. Great engineering, good quality, nice features, and pleasant customer service.

What is the best way/setting to dry shoes?

Asked by: Mike62
We appreciate your interest in the operations of this dryer. It is not recommended to allow shoes to tumble through the dryer, as this could damage the drum. It is recommended to check the Product Care Instructions generally found on the shoes themselves. If there are additional questions, please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000.

The dryer will not shut off after the cycle is complete.  The drum keeps turning.  The only way to shut it off is to open the door.

Asked by: Lisa99
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this dryer. Check to see if the WRINKLE CARE feature is active on this unit. According to the information on page 32 of your owner’s manual, this function is designed to periodically tumble the load for up to 3 hours after the end of the selected cycle, or until the door is opened.

why does dryer not fully dry bedding

My dryer dries regular loads perfectly but will not fully dry sheets, quilts, etc. n matter what setting I use. Any suggestions? Vent tube is short and this is only a few months old.
Asked by: chrisrem
I have done this but I put the setting on the "Heavy Duty" setting and it worked for my bedspreads and quilts.

Sensor location.

I have googled and found if you use dryer sheets in this dryer you need to wipe off the sensors or they will fail to work properly. What is the location for the sensors in the DLE4870W dryer. Thanks...
Asked by: DirtyOldMadman
We appreciate your interest in this electric dryer. The moisture / humidity sensory strip is located on the lint filter housing, just below the door opening. It is not recommended to use any dryer sheets with this device. Fabric softener should be added to the washing machine, in the appropriate compartment, for addition to the final cycles.

How may we purchase the drying rack for this LG machine, DLE4870W?

I wasn't too confused until reading this (the three entries regarding drying rack order information. Please start anew and remove all other or line out the text. Be clear. I, for one, have little tolerance for incorrect or ambiguous information. Cut out the on one hand and then the other. I don't need a "should" but a confirmed IS. You should know, it's your machine, etc. I should think the retailer for the dryer would offer. #Can't believe Lowes where dryer was purchased doesn't carry; also can believe LG doesn't provide rack with purchase. So... # If the rack doesn't come with the dryer but can be ordered, please tell us the appropriate source and order information.

Dryer will not stay turned on

My daughter overloaded our dryer, now every time I try to turn it on it turns back off as soon as I lift my finger from the on button. Is there something I can do to get it working again?
Asked by: apigman
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this dryer. While it does not seem that this power failure would be caused by an over load of laundry, there does appear to be a failure in the power switch, control board, or some related component. The unit will likely require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at

Is there any way I can get the signal to sound at the end of a cycle when using the wrinke care option

My end of cycle signal is turned on and works when I am not using the wrinkle care feature. However regardless of which cycle I select if I use the wrinkle care feature I do not get a signal when the preset cycle initially completes. I would think that the normal cycle end signal (melody) would sound and then the wrinkle care restart would continue. I don't want to have to wait 3 hours until I hear my dryer signal.
Asked by: newtoLGinOH
We appreciate your interest in this dryer. The description provided is normal operation of the device. There are no settings available to modify the ‘End of Cycle’ time frame.

How do I convert this dryer to operate on natural gas?

I am trying to convert this dryer from electric to natural gas. Everyone I talk to (LG, department stores, etc) keeps directing me to the LP conversion kit, but that is for converting from liquid propane to natural gas. What is the accessory and part # for ordering a conversion kit to convert from ELECTRIC TO NATURAL GAS?
Asked by: Kate78
We appreciate your interest in this dryer. Unfortunately, there are no conversion kits available for converting an ELECTRIC dryer to a GAS dryer. This dryer does not possess the hardware required to change from electric to gas. Regrettably, this will not be possible.
