What People Are Saying

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 50 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by great little blu-ray I have had this blu-ray for over 3 years and it is a great little machine. It is small compact and can fit just about anywhere. Plus the feature of being able to connect to Netflix , Pandora and You-Tube make it even better July 5, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love It I am new to the WiFi world and bought a TV that I thought I could instantly watch Netflix on. It said that it was WiFi capable and it was at a good price. After a few days of frustration and a few hours of reading on the net I discovered that my television was WiFi capable but was not a smart TV. What was I going to do as the TV was purchased and a good price and I really didn’t want to take it back. So I did some research, did some reading and became WiFi savvy. I figured that a blue ray player with WiFi capabilities would be the answer. Back to the drawing board……..I researched some more read some more, googled top blue ray players and read. Alas after reading review after review and seeing site after site I knew the LG Bp540 must be the player for me. I am so happy with my blue ray player. The instructions and ease in set up are great I was able to hook it up and have things up and running in about 10 minutes. And it seems as if running the TV through the DVD has changed the picture on my TV, I don’t know how this can be but when I run my TV without the player it just seems kind of off, put the player on and thing seem clearer. It is not lacking in apps either, they are great. I searched Amazon open box and got my DVD player for half price, if anything ever happens to it and I can’t find it at a good deal I will still buy it at full price as I don’t want to be without this little gem. I am now a member of the smart world and online TV because of my Blueray player July 1, 2015

There is a great many apps that came with it and I have many more features with this unit. The only thing I found out is it doesn't work while plug into a surge protector, this needs to be address. Rated 4 out of 5 by Does the Job! Good product, does the job, I just bought it so I can use the 3D features on my TV, haven't use the apps on the device. I just wish my magic remote was able to control more of the features, without having to switch remotes all the time. April 10, 2015

Wi-fi Connection

I'm not sure what happened between yesterday and today, but my wi-fi is no longer connected to this device. It was working fine just a day ago, and I was able to use all of the apps that required wi-fi. Now, however, all the apps do not work on count that it is no longer connected to wi-fi. I have already unplugged and reset my router multiple times, attempted to reconnect the wi-fi, as well as set the Blu-Ray player back to factory settings.

When I connect to the router, on the TV, it shows the Blu-Ray connected to the router, but then shows the router disconnected to some sort of Earth symbol. I am not technologically-fluent enough to understand what that means. It also has a disclaimer that suggests that I should register the MAC number with my internet service provider - which again, I have no idea what that means.

Answer:
I had a problem last week with No Network connection. I reset my Modem/Router several times with no results. I finial unplugged the BP540 & plugged it back in. Picked up Network, of course I had to re-enter the Network information. I think I may have had a brief power outage that caused the problem. Hope this helps.

Answer:
We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this BluRay player. How many devices are currently connected to your router? How many connection channels can be used at the same time with the router? If the unit is still recognized by the system, then there may not actually be a problem other than this. Please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000.

Answer:
It may be possible to control your TV operations, depending upon the type of TV you are using. While holding down the TV POWER button, enter the code for your TV, using the numerical buttons. Then release both buttons. The remote is designed for SINGLE-DIGIT codes, ranging from 1 through 9. Depending on your TV, some or all buttons may not function on the TV, even after entering the correct code. When you replace the battery of the remote, the code number you have set may be reset to the default setting (1). You will have to reprogram the controller.

BP540 HDMI ARC 1.4?

Connecting BP540 to Harman Kardon SB35 soundbar then to Samsung pn60f5500 plasma. Soundbar is connected via HDMI ARC to TV. For some reason when playing DVD there is a signal drop at regular intervals (maybe a "handshake" issue, as they say).

The audio cycles on and off at regular 4 second intervals. The Video plays steady.

If I connect TV to BP5400 and run optical to soundbar then there is audio but no passthrough Dolby or DTS from the BP540.

Maybe BP540 isn't HDMI ARC compatible?

We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this BluRay player and the audio signal. From the description given, it seems that the player is operating properly, else the problem would continue to occur when connected directly to the audio system. We would be happy to troubleshoot this matter with you. Please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000.
