Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful! Put off buying this for too long. Finally picked it up and it is the best monitor I've ever used as a visual designer. Great color, crisp, super easy to use. Rated 5 out of 5 by from finally - studio quality in a transportable size I use this as part of a transportable system and I like that the stand pops off allowing me to pack it to my project sites. I can edit photos with all of the resolution and color accuracy I have in the studio.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Screen for new MacBook Pro I bought this recently to go with our new MacBook Pro. We use it for our wedding photography business. It was a breeze to set up, the colors are gorgeous and it has plenty of extra ports for drives, etc. It wasn't the cheapest on the market but we are happy that we made the investment!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect partner for my new 2017 iMac I do a lot of photo and video work as a hobby. I love the convenience of having a second screen for Photos while using Final Cut Pro on my primary screen. The colors are vivid and bright, perfect for photo editing. Best of all, the monitor was "plug and play" for USB-C port on the iMac.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Absolutely the best monitor I ever had" Functions recently with my MBP in dual configuration. Brilliant colours and good contrast. If I could daisy-chain them and they had a builtin webcam, I'd give them an extra star

Rated 2 out of 5 by from loose cable, poor software The USB-C to USB-C cable provided by LG is loose on each end. The monitor goes black and the laptop stops charging. It comes loose both at the rear of the monitor and at my laptop if I gently bump into the cable. LG has sent me two replacements that are exactly the same. LG has offered to have me send in the monitor for service but that won't correct the loose cable issue. The LG Screen Manager software for the monitor was not effective and interfered with other software so I deleted it months ago. I can't control the brightness.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Won't work with Thunderbolt MacBook Pro The guys at the Apple store sold me this monitor along with a Thunderbolt-to-USB-C adapter. Sorry folks, this won't work unless you have a new-model MacBook with USB-C ports.

Does the ambient light sensor work at all? I have been unable to find any report of its usage and it does not work for me in Sierra. Can you specify a combination of Mac and MacOS where it can actually be used to automatically adjust the brightness?

Asked by: Lee3
The Ambient Light Sensor (ALS) should work fine. To find how it works, open System Preferences and select Displays. Enable "Automatically adjust brightness" and the computer will use the ambient light sensor to automatically adjust the brightness. You can also check if Mac OS is updated. The ALS operates in accordance with Mac OS and some Mac OS doesn’t support the display ALS. If all mentioned above don't work, try to place your hand on the ambient light sensor and check if your screen will turn black. If not, then the ambient light sensor might not be working. ^AC

Hi, is this monitor compatible with PC laptops? I have a laptop that has USB-C, Mini DP and HDMI. Could this connect through a mini DP out > USB-C in? I do not have TB3.

Asked by: juanbastos
I was hoping to hook it up to my PC (GForce 1080 card) - I tried a thunderbolt DP to USB c and it did not work. Support said ' the 22md4ka was only meant for mac with USB c and mac OSX sierra' - they did not know how to get it to work  That said, there must be some way/hack around it... It would be great to know if anyone has figured this out.....?

The tech specs say "three USB-C downstream ports (USB 5 Gbps)", which would indicate USB 3. Early press reports of this monitor said that it was only capable of USB 2 speeds. Has something changed?

Asked by: RichardHD
Hi RichardHD. Regrettably, we cannot speak on early press reports for the LG 22" Class UltraFine™ 4K IPS LED Monitor (21.5" Diagonal), Model # 22MD4KA, but it is possible that either those early specifications were incorrect. Specifications are always subject to change which is why the company does not release preliminary specifications until they are finalized...^IFV

How do I connect speakers to this monitor?

Asked by: Bobec
We appreciate your interest in this monitor and its operations. This set does not have a speaker port, nor can it connect to any manner of speakers. Such should be connected directly to the computer instead.
