What People Are Saying

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Refrigerator I want to say that I love this refrigerator. The Door in Door feature is a great. My kids are always having friends over and that means they all want something to drink. Having the Door in Door allows us to put drinks in there so it’s easy access for them without having to open the whole refrigerator every time. Things you use most often are right there and you don’t have to go searching inside for them. With just knock you can see if you are low on anything without opening the door. Getting into it can be done with just one hand if your other hand is tied up while cooking. The storage on the inside of the other door has nice shelves for the smaller things to keep them out of the way. The ice maker in the door is working great. The area in the door where you get ice is tall so it’s convenient to fit into different to size cups or water bottles. The convenience of the shelves inside makes it easy to fit large items and move things around. This is so much bigger than my last fridge that when I look at it when it’s wide open, I can ever imagine filling it up. I always had to bend over or kneel down to get to the bottom shelves and move things around to find what I was looking for and now everything is basically at eye level. The lighting is bright throughout the whole fridge so there is no area where you can’t see. Even the fruit/vegetable drawers are easy to see into. Having three different drawers on top of one large drawer makes for a ton of storage. It’s nice to have the one large drawer but you do have to open both doors to open it as opposed to opening one door to get to one of the smaller drawers. Also, having different temperature controls on these are nice. The freezer seems to have plenty of room for what you will need. There is a top pullout shelve that is deep and includes a bucket for extra ice. A second thinner shelf is nice for the smaller things. The deep freezer allows you store the bigger things down below. You need to organize things as they go in so things are not just piled up on each other.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Refrigerator! I have had the LG LFXC24796D, InstaView, Door-in-Door, Counter Depth Refrigerator, for a few months now and it is an awesome product! The InstaView Door-in-Door feature is one of my favorite features! With two quick knocks it allows you to view the contents inside the easy access compartment without letting out any cold air, which helps keep food fresher longer. You can also access commonly used foods through a door on the easy access compartment without exposing the contents of the interior of the refrigerator. The Black Stainless Steel exterior is another great feature! I was a little apprehensive about the color, however, it blends in well with the other standard stainless steel appliances in my kitchen. In addition, the exterior is Fingerprint and Smudge proof! Just another great plus! Another feature that I really like is the Glide n Server storage space, which has a temperature control that allows for Produce (Cold), Deli (Colder) and Meat (Coldest). The drawer is also large enough to hold party trays! The Humidity Controlled Crispers allow you to store vegetables and fruit at the proper humidity with an easy to use control setting, allowing produce to stay fresher longer. Just another great feature! There is plenty of storage space in this refrigerator, including selves on the ice maker door, which most refrigerators don't have. These extra shelves are allowed due to the "Slim Spaceplus" Ice System. This is a great design! The indoor ice bin is easily accessible by a cleverly placed handle on the side of the ice bin door. Although, I like the design of the ice bin, the handle to open the door seems a little delicate due to it's plastic composition. My concern is that it could break over time. I would suggest perhaps a more durable metal handle. As for the Freezer, again, there is plenty of storage space here! There are two easy glide storage drawers contained in the main large storage compartment, which allow easy access to the storage area. The control panel located on the front of the refrigerator is easy to read and not only illuminates when an option button is pressed, but also whenever the refrigerator door is opened, which allows for a quick glance at the overall settings i.g. freezer/refrigerator temperature settings. The water and ice dispenser are convenient and have enough space to allow a large container to be filled. Although the water dispenser allows for large containers, it is positioned outside of the water catch pan area, actually it extends slightly beyond the front of the refrigerator. The problem with this position is that there is the potential for spillage on the front of the refrigerator, as well as, on the floor. Overall, the LFXC24796D InstaView, Door-in-Door Refrigerator is a great product and would highly recommend it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not quiet I love the layout of this refrigerater and am delighted with the space available for storage even though it is not a large refrigerator. I had to learn not to open the right side while getting ice on the left side. The ice maker shuts off if you open either door. Most importantly, I bought this product because it is supposed to be the quietest one available. I am very, very disappointed. It is not quiet and makes weird sounds. If it continues, I am going to contact the retailer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Innovative Features I think I may be in love with my new LG French Door-In-Door Refrigerator!!? Seriously, I took delivery of the new fridge just over a week ago and I am very happy. So many great features, I get excited each time I use one! And although I was concerned about the color, Black Stainless Steel, coordinating with my other white appliances, it’s beautiful and works well in my kitchen. The most unique feature is the InstaView Door-In-Door, where you can store frequently used items such as beverages and snacks. When you want to access one of them you simply push the exterior button found on the right door handle and you can reach inside without opening the standard exterior door. Also, when you knock twice on the InstaView Door-In-Door a light comes on inside the refrigerator and you can easily see what you need to add to your grocery list without opening the exterior door. I’m also enjoying the in-door ice and filtered water dispenser, which offers both cubed and crushed ice. It’s so much more user friendly than my last fridge, which frequently spilt water or small pieces of ice when filling a glass. It’s a lot quieter too. If you need a large amount of ice you can access the ice bin, which is located inside the refrigerator door. Just pull a handle located on the left interior door of the refrigerator, which exposes the ice bin, and you can easily remove the entire bin. The ice cubes are smaller than the more standard size my last refrigerator had which I wasn’t sure I would like. However, I’m very happy with the smaller size cubes, which dispense more easily, and are great for filling smaller vessels such as refillable water bottles. One last important favorite of mine is that the fridge is equipped with great interior lighting. Bright LED lights illuminate the entire interior of both the refrigerator and freezer making it so easy to see what is inside. I highly recommend the LG French Door-In-Door Refrigerator!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We're loving it!! We received our new LG LFXC24796D InstaView Door-in-Door Black Stainless Steel refrigerator nearly a month ago and we're loving it. It looks absolutely beautiful, even against my dark cherry cabinets and everyone who has seen it so far have all said they love the style and overall look of it. Any fingerprints are easily wiped away with a clean dry cloth or if one isn't readily available, your sleeve, so it always looks clean. The only negative here is that the front of the fridge is a plastic material, so you can't put magnets (or the kids' art work) on the front, they have to go on the sides, which are metal. I was worried about the InstaView door at first because I'm not big on having everyone see what we have in our fridge...or even seeing it myself, but the tinted panel on the door is pretty dark, so you can't really see much in there unless we have the light on over the snack bar which is directly in front of the fridge, but anyway, I found that it doesn't really bother me. When I do want to see what's in this smaller door, I give the panel two quick knocks and it lights up for about 10 seconds. If I want the light off before then, I give it two more knocks...very neat feature. This easy access compartment has three fairly large shelves (two of which are capable of holding two gallons of milk side by side) and a very narrow shelf at the very bottom. My very first refrigerator from 32 years ago, which was a side-by-side, had a similar door in door design. I loved it back then and was thrilled to see it again. It keeps everything just as cold as inside the fridge...yes, even my gallon of milk, although LG recommends putting it inside...yet you can grab it quickly without have to open the whole door. I really, really love this feature. The contents of this door are also accessible from inside the fridge via a plastic door on the inside of the larger door. We, along with the installers, had trouble with this at first because there is a spot on the plastic inside door that states "Push to open" and when you do, it shoves the plastic door in, but it doesn't open. We thought it was faulty, but after playing with it a bit, I found that if you push on the clear plastic about an inch below that spot, it will depress and the door pops open easily...problem solved. I had reservations about going to a French Door design with a bottom freezer because, as a wheelchair user, I worried that it would be more difficult reaching things in the fridge section than in my side-by-side, but I quickly discovered that this really isn't an issue. I love being able to open the doors and reach in without having to re position myself around the doors. I'm also enjoying how much room there is in the refrigerator section compared to my side-by-side. I was able to put all my Christmas and New Year's goodies in there without having to resort to using our smaller fridge in the cellar. I love how bright the inside of this fridge is from the sharp LED lighting...no dark scary areas in here...even the three fruit/vegetable slide out bins and the long drawer at the bottom are nicely lit up. The bins have two separate controls which allows you to set at either a Fruit or Vegetable setting and the long drawer can be kept at a slightly different temperature than the rest of the fridge. You get to select either a produce, deli, or meat setting. There are three non adjustable shelves on the left inside door to hold condiments, cans of dough and/or soda etc. The inside shelves are adjustable to a certain extent and one shelf glides back to make a half shelf which allows you to put a few taller items like 2 liter bottles of soda below the half shelf. One drawback we found with the shelving is that we couldn't adjust them enough to allow our box of wine to stand upright for easy dispensing without removing the whole box from the fridge every time. We eventually discovered that we could lay the box on it's side, spin the spigot around, and with the shelf slid back, pour a glass that way...don't judge us...it was an issue. One thing I'm not too thrilled with is the space in the freezer. It is large, but it just doesn't hold as much as the freezer on our side-by-side did. It has an upper drawer you can pull out where I've put my boxed veggies, bread loaves, and things of that height and a thinner tray area below that, perfect for storing items like salmon, fish fillets, bacon or hot dog packages etc. Then there is a larger bin area with an easy to slide separator to store your larger items, but you can't over stuff any of these drawers because they somewhat slide into each other when you close the freezer door. The ice maker for this unit is located on the inside left refrigerator door, so it doesn't take up any freezer space or really much refrigerator space either...it's a very slim design, yet produces and holds a sufficient amount of ice for us. The cubes tend to be a little smaller than other ice makers I've used, but I like them that way. The water is dispensed by pressing your glass against the upper pad and the ice comes from pressing the lower pad. When using this dispenser to fill plastic water bottles or paper cups, you have to press the pad with your hand because the cup or bottle will collapse or crush a bit. Also, within a day or two of using the water dispenser, minor scratches appeared on the pad area close to the spout, so I'm not sure how much worse that will get after years of use. We've also found that the water is not as cold as our old fridge...the water is just slightly cooler than room temperature. I really do like the quick water flow and how easily you can get a large bottle or pitcher under the water spout. The control panel located to the left of the water/ice dispenser is a nice feature. Pressing any of the "buttons" or opening a door will light up the panel allowing you to see and easily change the settings. You can choose the type of ice from crushed to cubed. You can quickly change the fridge and freezer temperatures and the temp that's displayed is what you set it at, it's not the actual temperature inside the unit. There is a Smart Grid button which, when you download the app to your smart device and connect to the fridge, allows you to control the temps, ice plus feature, and fresh air filter. We were able to download the app with a little help from our son, fiddled with it a bit, but haven't really used it, so I can't comment too much on it. There is a Fresh Air button to control how you want it to run, power mode or auto which has their various cycles. I left mine on auto mode. The ice plus mode increases the ice making and freezing capabilities. We leave it on so that it produces ice whenever needed...it won't overfill, but can be turned off by pressing the button. The next button is to turn on/off the light in the water/ice area or if you hold it for 3 seconds, it resets the water filter when you've changed it. I like the next button, the door alarm and lock. Hold it for 3 seconds and it locks the water/ice pads and other control panel buttons so you can wash it without having water and ice come out or accidentally change the settings. If you have young ones who like to press random buttons, this feature will get a lot of use. This also turns the Alarm on and off. When on, there will be a chime that alerts you when a door is left ajar too long. Overall, we really love this refrigerator and would recommend it to anyone looking for a new one. After nearly a month, I still get a little excited when going to the fridge for something and seeing how beautiful it is...inside and out!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cool fridge! We've only had our new fridge for a couple of weeks and are already very impressed! The door-in-door feature is really cool, allowing you to store and quickly access some of your most used items. We were surprised at how much we could fit in there! We also found the InstaView glass unique and helpful -- tapping on the glass allows you to even peek inside without letting the cold out! Another feature that we really like is the ice machine. Both because it is within the (non-InstaView) door and because the cubes that it makes are a touch smaller than others that we have had, allowing them to fit into sport bottles and other containers easily. Since the ice machine is in the door, more room is freed in the fridge, itself. Even though it was slightly smaller than our old unit, we feel we were able to get just as much in the fridge. This was due to the storage in the doors being so useful and because the shelves are so easily adjusted. There is even one that slides, so you can position taller items in without any trouble at all! We did recognize that the depth of the drawers are a bit small. Being we buy a lot of groceries from places like Costco, we found our produce does not usually fit in the drawers. What it lacks in depth of drawers, it makes up for in quantity. It seems like there are a number of drawers to stash things; the glide n' serve drawer is handy for small things like yogurt, where you can easily see what you have. This is our first fridge with the freezer on the bottom, so we were a bit skeptical as to how we would like it. Although it doesn't seem to quite store as much as our previous (side-by-side) freezer, we were able to fit in more than we expected. With five people in the family, another thing we really like is that it has a truly smudge-proof finish! The black stainless also looks really sharp in our kitchen and all of the doors have a very sold, heavy-duty feel. Overall, this is a really nice looking, well put together, feature-rich fridge.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sterling Instaview Fridge We are very impressed with the beautiful instaview door-in-door refrigerator we recently added to our kitchen. The door-in-door feature is very handy, especially with guests and small children. This feature minimizes opening the doors to get beverages. Initially, we were a bit skeptical of the size of this great refrigerator since we replaced a larger unit, but found the shelving, drawers and door-in-door features to efficiently provide access and better organization of space. During the recent holidays, we had more than enough space for the additional storage requirements. The finger and smudge resistant finish keeps our beautiful refrigerator looking great, even from puppy prints.

I got a LG  refrigerator can I just buy the third glass door

Asked by: Frank 1
We appreciate your interest in this refrigerator. While it is certainly possible to purchase the door, it is recommended to have the installation performed professionally, as improper installation can result in air leaks around the seals. Parts and accessories can be obtained through our parts distributor, MCM Electronics. Their contact number, for placing orders, is 800-824-9491. You can also use their website, at http://www.mcmelectronics.com/content/en-US/forms/lg_parts.

We just got our fridge. The water dispenses the very fast, which is fine, but it splashes everywhere and we have to keep liking every time we get water.  Any suggestions on this?

Asked by: Sue1973
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this refrigerator. If the dispenser is splashing water, then it may be suggested to utilize a taller container from which the water will not so readily splash. It may also be possible to reduce the water pressure from the water valve by decreasing the water flow from the valve in the wall.

Which.   Is the. Right.  Temperature.  For.    Refrigerate.

Asked by: Lokillo
The right temperature for your ENERGY STAR® Qualified LG 24 cu. ft. InstaView™ Door-in-Door® Counter-Depth Refrigerator, Model # LFXC24796S is dependent on several factors. LG recommends 37°F for the refrigerator compartment and 0°F for the freezer compartment. Ideally, the refrigerator should be installed in an area where the temperature is between 55°F (13°C) and 110°F (43°C). If the temperature around the appliance is too low or high, cooling ability may be adversely affected. If there is not a lot of food in the compartment, the doors are not opened very often, or the ambient temperature is cool, then the unit does not need to be set as cold. Most LG Refrigerators default to 37°F for the refrigerator compartment and 0°F for the freezer compartment, but you may need to make adjustments according to the aforementioned factors...^IFV
