4K Resolution - Video

4K Resolution

ULTRA HD is a new standard in picture quality, and it's the future of high-end video display in the home. The resolution is four times that of Full HD 1080p*, with a whopping 8.3 million pixels to display flawless images, even when viewed up close. Enjoy incredibly vivid colors and picture details as never before.

Tru-4K Engine

Tru-4K Engine

Enjoy the benefits of 4K resolution today. LG's Tru-4K HD Engine upscales the picture through a multi-step data analysis that enhances the details of broadcasts, movies, sports and videogames to near-4K quality, giving you the superior viewing experience you expect from an ULTRA HDTV.

HEVC Decoder

HEVC Decoder

The recently developed HEVC (short for High Efficiency Video Coding) compression format is essential to ULTRA HD/4K, enabling next-generation video playback to meet the demands of UHD TVs. 4K video uses HEVC, and so the built-in HEVC decoder on this LG ULTRA HD television makes it ready to display 4K content.

What People Are Saying

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Is Truely The Best TV I've Ever Bought I bought this TV a little over two months ago and I have to say it is truly the best TV I have ever owned. Words can't describe how beautiful the picture is. The sound is really good too. When I first hooked it up to my HD Digital Cable DVR I did notice some input lag.. but that was quickly fixed after switching it to "Game Mode", and after a bit of tweaking with the picture settings it went from amazing to unbelievable. I suggest you disable "Sports Mode" on all settings because there will be lag. My XBOX ONE games never looked better. I'd notice things that I would have never noticed on other HD TV's. There is barely any boarder around the TV is it's pretty much all TV. And with it being a SmartTV I no longer have to turn on my XBOX to watch Netflix. Plus with the USB inputs you can connect most USB keyboards and mice and browse with the installed web browser. However there are a few SLIGHT downsides. 1. You can not use the "Go Back" feature to switch back to previous inputs. Which means there is a 3 step process to switching inputs. You have to hit the "INPUT" button on your remote, then scroll over the the input you want, and then click "OK". 2. There is no custom input labeling you can name the inputs, but you have to choose on of the preset names. 3. The TV does take a few seconds to start up. All and all this is a great TV and I would suggest it to anyone that is in the market for a SmartTV

Rated 5 out of 5 by from UB8000 UHD TV I recently purchased the 40" LG UB8000 UHD TV from Best By Canada. It is great picture quality UHD TV in 4:20 resolution. I have not viewed any 1080 HD quality TV viewing or 4K only available on select NetFlex network packages. Looking forward to the 1st TV Network 4K Broadcast viewing on the market in the near future. Any comments when the TV Networks will broadcast in 4K resolution? The only complaint I have as I have read in previous reviews is the Low Sound when connected to my Digital Box and Home Theatre Sound System.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great 4K UHD TV at one of the best price on market The picture quality of this TV is great. Even old B&W movies look better on this TV. Easy to setup! Connect easy to your home wireless network so you can watch online channels. A good buy for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent as a TV, but just OK as a 4k monitor The 4:2:0 makes it difficult to use as a 4k monitor at 60Hz. Also, the audio delay requires turning on the bypass feature. Lastly, the Super Resolution setting doesn't stay off between restarts.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 4K Still trying to figure this product out, How to get the 4k crisper but other than that I love this TV and everything about it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from OMG the color. I picked up this baby at BestBuy on sale.. Like a stupid crazy sale. The only way I can describe it is it's like you're looking out of a window and not watching a TV screen. Everything is crisp and sharp.. Just beautiful. I find the Sound lacks quality, however, I do have it connected to a home system sound bar and sub so I don't use the TV audio. I given it a 4 for that reason. But I do recommend the TV to anyone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great TV over all. I have watched this TV for small room for 3 month. Excellent Image and fare enough 4k monitor. only cons are the stands. it is too wide spread out to sit on the normal tv stand.

On the cord that runs from the Wii system to the TV has a yellow, red and white cord. On the back of the TV it looks like only a yellow and a green/blue input. Is the Wii compatible with this TV or is there an adapter I need?

Asked by: Kilika
I have different brand with somewhat the same problem. Reading the instruction book directed yellow in yellow and red/white in Green/blue

I have 40UB8000 and i want to see, on screen, resolution setting: 4k 60HZ. how do i do that on the TV.

Asked by: jwhill10
We appreciate your interest in this television. The resolution listing, in the INFO BAR, shows information relating to the incoming signal. As such, the only way for this to list a 4K resolution is to have an inbound signal that is already formatted to 4K.

My tv remote isn't working. Usually when I scroll I see a arrow on the screen and I don't see anything. I tried to reset it by holding down the back key and home button. It never blinked 3 times

Netflix 4K

Why don't I see the 4K option when signed into Netflix?
Asked by: nita
We appreciate your interest in this television. Has your Netflix service been upgraded to 4K service yet? The standard account access does not provide 4K viewing. The service must be upgraded in order for the 4K service to be available.
