Rated 5 out of 5 by As it's a plasma it offers great color at the cost I have it hooked up to FiOS and sometimes the TV trips off, which may be a input signal overload. I really don't know why this happens. April 5, 2014

Answer:
The difference is that this is a 2013 model and the 6500 is a 2014 model. Also the 6500 has 5 sound modes and the 5300 only has 3. The 6500 also weighs more(about 17 pounds). Hope this helps, if not go to lg.com for more comparison.

Answer:
Mskoolteacher, your interest in the 50" Class (49-9/10" Diag.) - Plasma - 1080p - 600Hz - HDTV is greatly appreciated. If I may ask, who is making or where are the extra suggested devices being made for the television? Keep in mind that suggestions are just that, suggestions and at no point should you feel like you're being coerced or pressured into purchasing something you do not need. A Professional Sales Associates may ask you questions based on your lifestyle and viewing experiences and suggest an extra that would enhance your viewing and your needs. He will match the products benefits to your needs. Extras like a surge protector or line conditioner to protect your equipment from power surges and brown outs is important and a great suggestion. Guarantees that will replace your unit if it cannot be repaired may be to your advantage and extras like HDMI cables if you do not have those is useful, but ultimately, you have to be comfortable with the suggestions and they have to fill a need you have. LAN connection - where is it?

Hello,
I just purchased a 50PN5300, and the major reason for selection of this model was that that it offered a LAN connection.
LAN connection is clearly listed in the specifications.
Prior to ordering this item on 3 July 2013 I spoke with an LG customer service representative to confirm LAN connectivity as a function and to differentiate it from the RS-232C control and service connection.
I am in the process of unpacking and setting up the unit and I cannot find the LAN connection.
In reading the provided manual (Both paper and CD format) I see no mention of a LAN connection.

Where is the LAN connection on this unit? Please contact me as soon as possible so that I can make a decision to keep or return this unit.

Sincerely, Clay H.

We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this television and its specifications. While the specifications for this unit were originally designed to have a LAN port, this model was not designed to be a Smart TV, nor to have any online capabilities other than the potential software update. Specifications are subject to change at any time, without prior notification.

Answer:
We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this television. This TV is not designed for compatibility with a VGA cable. It can work with a computer that uses either a DVI or HDMI cable. If the DVI cable is needed, then the connection would match that on page 22 of the owner’s manual. The audio cables would connect to the RED/WHITE audio connection on the COMPONENT IN jacks.
