How many FALD zones will there be in the sk9500 and sk900?

Asked by: WonMoTyme
I just recieved mine today. After running the local dimming zone test off YouTube I can tell you there is only a measly 96. Weak for the price.

When will it be revealed how many local dimming zones this model will have? I heard that it will only have 96. If so that is a huge disappointment given the price. That may be a deal breaker.

I read on an article this tv will be released on March 19th..  can this be confirmed? Also is the promotion discount for real? This makes the SK9500 the same price as the SK9000?

Asked by: LG Fan1
I was able to order the SK9500 at Best Buy yesterday. It was available at the promotion price. The only thing is I have to wait for it to arrive. They said it could be any time with a tentative date of April 9th. If you look on Best Buy's website they also have a listing for it.

What are key differences between this LG 65SK9500PUA and the OLEDs? The price difference is relatively minor. We already have the 65 inch LG OLED C6 (amazing), and are getting 2nd set and are torn between this one and the current LG OLED model. Advice?

Asked by: AThrillOfHope
OLED and LED LCD are completely different technologies. The SK9500PUA 4K HDR Smart AI SUPER UHD w/ ThinQ - 65" Class (64.5" Diag), Model # 65SK9500PUAis an LED TV. All "LED TVs" are actually LCD TVs, they just use LEDs as their light source. Because LCDs use a backlight (of LEDs), their brightness is determined by how bright the backlight is. With OLED, on the other hand, each pixel creates its own light. So there are limits put on the TV as to how bright the entire TV can be (plasma is the same, just not as bright). So if you want a full white screen, LCD is brighter. If you want a white rectangle in the middle of a black screen, the OLED's "white window" will be brighter than LCD. The white window is more similar to regular TV content. Or to put it another way, in your home, OLED is likely to look brighter with movies and TV shows. Because OLED TVs can turn their pixels off, their black level is nearly perfect (as in, almost no light comes from the screen) and that ties in to contrast ratio. Contrast ratio is the difference between the darkest part of an image and the brightest. It is easily the most important factor in overall picture quality. A display with a low contrast ratio will seem washed out and flat. Conversely, a high contrast ratio will seem more realistic, with greater "depth.". Because OLEDs can turn their pixels off, effectively, they have an infinite contrast ratio and will definitely looks better than any TV you've ever seen. Better than any plasma or LCD. Having said all that, the 65SK9500PUA also look stunning. We highly recommend that you visit a showroom that has a floor model to assess its picture quality for yourself...^IFV
