4K Resolution - Video

4K Resolution

ULTRA HD is a new standard in picture quality, and it's the future of high-end video display in the home. The resolution is four times that of Full HD 1080p*, with a whopping 8.3 million pixels to display flawless images, even when viewed up close. Enjoy incredibly vivid colors and picture details as never before.

IPS 4K Panel

IPS 4K Panel

LG’S IPS panel puts brilliance on display with a wider 4K viewing angle than Samsung 4K TVs. One of the secrets behind LG TVs outstanding ULTRA high-definition performance is the specially designed TV panel. The quality of the panel helps determine the quality of the picture, and our IPS (In-Plane Switching) panel makes any seat the best in the house.

Tru-4K Engine

Tru-4K Engine

Enjoy the benefits of 4K resolution today. LG's Tru-4K HD Engine upscales the picture through a multi-step data analysis that enhances the details of broadcasts, movies, sports and videogames to near-4K quality, giving you the superior viewing experience you expect from an ULTRA HDTV.

HEVC Decoder

HEVC Decoder

The recently developed HEVC (short for High Efficiency Video Coding) compression format is essential to ULTRA HD/4K, enabling next-generation video playback to meet the demands of UHD TVs. 4K video uses HEVC, and so the built-in HEVC decoder on this LG ULTRA HD television makes it ready to display 4K content.

What People Are Saying

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 56 reviewers.
Rated 2 out of 5 by The latest FW update was bad With the latest FW update, lot of problems started happening. 1. Cannot see the resolution information for Netflix or amazon streaming 2. Youtube streaming never goes beyond 720p 3. Amazon app keeps crashing or losing Audio. 4. 4K streaming does not seem to be working and I have no way of knowing if its displaying at 4K since resolution information is missing. 5. Miracast/WIDI does not work properly. 6. Turning TV OFF/ON causes SMPLINK (HDMI CEC) to Amazon FireTV to turn off. you have to power cycle the FireTV stick to get back SMPLINK feature. Please fix these ASAP August 7, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good for the price paid My second LG TV. The picture is great and the features are ok. Wish it had WebOs and magic remote. But I got a great deal at Best Buy. So I can live without the aforementioned features. July 21, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing TV We recently upgraded our tv because our 60" LG plasma had a line appear in the middle of the screen. I'm still a plasma fan, but some of the things this tv can do are amazing. The picture quality is stunning, even when full HD is being up-converted to 4k, however SD picture looks considerably worse than on a 1080p set. Motion blur is honestly not that bad on this tv (one of my biggest peeves), but the soap-opera effect is very prominent on most settings. Even at the setup I've settled on, it took some getting used to because live action pictures look unnatural (why I'm a plasma fan). The audio is considerably better than my plasma set. This tv has a built-in subwoofer and it presents a better than average sound profile than most flatscreens. More smart tv functions than my plasma had, nothing too groundbreaking in the few years between sets, but the wifi direct functions are pretty awesome. The only real complaint I have with this tv is that the panel seems very vulnerable. My plasma set had a thick tempered-glass sheet in front of the plasma panel and it seemed all but indestructible. Having a toddler running around, I'm very concerned that he would be able to damage the screen if he were to throw something at it. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase and definitely recommend this tv to anyone looking. April 25, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by AWESOME TV We are loving our new tv. The only complaint is the poor sound quality i just wish it was better. Now we are looking for a good sound bar to complete our movie nights. Other then that this tv is really good quality. Would recommend it. April 7, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Outstanding Picture Exceeded my expectations on picture quality and ease of use. April 2, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great picture after it is set up We purchased the tv and this picture quality is beautiful once we had someone come and set it up, it is actually almost unbelievable. It will be even better when tv shows come in 4k, can not believe it could even be better, but it will be movie theater quality, but it has a beautiful picture now. The only problem was the sound was not what we expected, and had to get external speaker system as we desired a higher sound, it is wonderful now that we added external speakers, but for older people, speakers may need to be added, thank you April 1, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great value! This TV is as good as any other brand I have looked at and a much better bang for the buck. The smart features are easy to set up and so is the picture quality. The TV will walk you through each step for set up. WiFi was easy to set up just be sure to know your wifi connection password. I bought this for the Super Bowl and it was a big hit. The sound system sync was automatic as soon as I plugged in the HDMI cable. The remote recognized the sound system and cable automatically. March 31, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Television for the Best Price Rarely do you find the best product and get a great price too, but this television is the exception. This TV has a great picture and loaded with all the features anyone could want. Streaming movies from your computer using Plex and LG Smart Share or the Internet app from your LG TV is seamless with 5 gigahertz wireless. This is one my favorites things on this TV I can stream movies from any source and watch without the interuption of 'buffering'. LG has great picture quality especially when watching BlueRay. This LG is very easy to setup and use. We compared this TV with more expensive brands of the same or similar quality and found the only difference was the price. We highly recommend this LG Television to anyone in the market for a new television. March 30, 2015

Answer:
LG says this is a "TrueMotion 240" TV. This suggests it is a 240Hz TV, but no one has independently confirmed this, to my knowledge. All TV manufacturers have been coy about actual refresh rates; LG is not an exception.

All I know is that I do see ghosting and motion blur on a regular basis with this TV. I do not have enough experience with other TVs to say how bad it is, but Consumer Reports rates this TV as "good" (3 out of 5) with respect to motion blur.

Answer:
The UB9500 has 3D, WebOS, and the magic remote, while the UB9200 has no 3D, is a Smart TV (without WebOS), and has the usual old clunky remote. It's a cut-rate orphan (there's only one size) created to fill a hole in the market between HD and UHD TVs. It also has incomplete HEVC support (from what I understand). It's not terrible, and the problems it has (like the over-enthusiastic error correction pointed out by Consumer Reports) are probably fixable in firmware, but because it's an orphan, these problems are unlikely to ever be fixed.

Answer:
The closer the better obviously. Mine is about 15 foot away from the router and works flawlessly. I also use 5 gigahertz mode as most of my other devices use 2.4 so the TV does not have to compete with other devices for wireless demand. We have 4 mobile phones in our house, which also use the 5 gigahertz but it does not affect the wireless performance on our LG TV.

how many walls are in between the router and your TV is the real variable along with how the walls are insulated. If your laptop shows a great signal your TV picks the same

Answer:
The distance between the rear legs is approx. 52 inches. The front is a solid bar, bu the two rear legs are all that supports the back of the TV and they are splayed to the sides. You could place it on a 52 inch table, but I would strongly recommend against placing it on anything narrower than the TV itself, which is 57.2 inches.

Answer:
It is not the television it is your internet connection. shut down your computer, unplug your modem from the AC cord, and your router. Leave unplugged for a minute then plug modem back in and let it come up completely. Now plug your router back in and let it come up. If your modem and router are combined the modem is the only thing to unplug power on. Start your computer. Now setup wireles connection on the TV. If you have the capability use 5 gigahertz.

Answer:
Check your router.
If you're using an OLD router, replace it with a newer model. I'm using a WNDR3700 and I have the TV on the 5ghz band, and have no problems. As soon I got connected, I upgraded the firmware.
Also, if you're having problems setting up the WiFi, you will have to plug the TV to the network using an actual cable. Upgrade the firmware and then setup the WI-FI.
