What People Are Saying

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Cleaner Purchased the vacuum robot skeptical of its capability but was pleasantly surprised at its ability to change vacuum methods when it was on rugs and its ability to get the job done was efficient and consistent. Bravo LG

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Worked well for 7 months The Hom bot was purchased from Amazon at a premium price. After reviewing the various robot cleaners available the LG being a new unit seemed to offer the best machine. We have been happy with the unit until recently, when it developed a problem. We also found that it's almost impossible to buy replacement parts, so beware. Our unit works about 13 minutes and then says to "remove foreign material from the main brush", we check the unit find nothing restart it and it then stops again after 3 minutes. The unit was returned for repair and they say they found nothing wrong, got it back today and it's going back tomorrow. Additional information to follow as to the service provided by LG.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Humans love it, but the dogs feel otherwise.... Out of the box, the product is slick and well packed. The setup instructions weren't super clear as there are a lot of accessories but it was pretty easy to understand once you just looked at the product. Once assembled and charged, a simple start button was all that was needed to start cleaning in 'Zig-Zag' mode. This thing cleans like a champ out of the box and leaves the ever so satisfying lines on our carpet (see pic below). We do have two large dogs that shed like crazy and a 2 year old that drops everything on the floor. For the most part, the dogs are more than happy to clean up the food droppings from her, but I am left to deal with their hair all over the house. Although I have had to clean the dog hair out of the brush a couple times (their hair likes to accumulate in balls), it is definitely doing it's job! Pros: - The automated reminder to clean out the dust bin - can you add that feature to dryers for the link screen? - The ease it has when changing surfaces - carpet to hardwood, vice versa. It automatically knows the surface has changed and adjusts to better clean whatever surface it is on. - I was concerned about scuffs on our baseboards, but the sensors on the Hom-Bot are amazing! It has not run into the walls/furniture once! - It will go from room to room on its own, so you don't need to monitor it. - It can clean in places where your vacuum can't get to like under your bed and couch. Cons: - Large balls of dog hair get caught in the brush, but frequent use of the product would alleviate this from happening. - When the Hom-Bot cleans under your bed/nightstand/desk and there are cords, it will vacuum over the cords and either get stuck or vacuum up the cords. When in these areas, it needs to be monitored. Overall, the pros out way the cons by far and we really do love it! Our dogs are still unsure of it though (just like any vacuum, so don't take it personally Hom-Bot). There are a number of functions we have yet to explore, i.e. the mop function, so stay tuned for more feedback!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Our Floors Have Never Been Cleaner We've been using the LG Hom-Bot for about two weeks now, and it has made quite a difference in the overall cleanliness of our home. A bit about us: we have three "on the go" kids, so there is always a lot of traffic in house. We also have a mix of tile, hard wood, and carpet on every floor, so I was eager to try a robot vac that could handle all three. Great - Overall Cleaning: After we had set up the Hom-Bot charging station and while we were waiting for it to charge, I decided to vacuum the entire house with our Dyson DC-65 Animal Complete in order to provide a "fresh start" for the Hom-Bot. I was surprised to see how much additional, dust/dirt/hair/gunk the Hom-Bot had picked up as it was learning the layout of our house. In many cases, it is simply able to where a large vacuum can't. The first picture below is the "incremental" dust and dirt that the Hom-Bot picked up above and beyond the Dyson. And how often can you vacuum underneath the beds in your home? For us, the answer is almost never (see pic below)! The Hom-Bot does a surprisingly good job alternating between surfaces. I was worried that it would scuff up our hardwood floors, but it switches the beater brush on and off fairly effectively. I have not had a chance to try the mopping function yet. Mixed Results - When You Just Want to Clean Up a Mess: Admittedly, we're still learning how to use the Hom-Bot most effectively. Some days, you want it to clean up a specific mess and it wants to visit a different part of the house that it hasn't vacuumed lately. The different cleaning modes can help here, but it is still not as easy as bringing out the Dyson to suck up the spot where the popcorn bowl tipped over (did I mention have three kids?). 1/4" Round Trim: The other problem that I haven't solved yet is how to convince the Hom-Bot to stay off of the 1/4" round trim on the hardwoods. It seems to be just a pinch too low for the Hom-Bot's sensors and can cause jumping problems. It's not a big deal, but everyone once in a while, it gets stuck. Lessons learned: You also don't realize how much stuff is on our floor under it gets run over by the Hom-Bot. For instance, we have a lamp that has a plug in the floor. The cord was not large enough for the Hom-Bot sensors to identify, so it ran over the cord, eventually breaking it. I was able to put a new plug on it easy enough, so I'm considering it a "lesson learned." Be sure you pick up that kid's blanket, laptop cord, phone charging cord, kitchen throw rug on the hardwood floor, etc before you turn the Hom-Bit loose. LEGOS! In addition to being the scourge of the barefoot parent, they are also the scourge of the Hom-Bot. The small ones get sucked up easily enough and are easy to retrieve, but the larger pieces can cause the Hom-Bot to get stuck and will likely require your help to get it back on track. Overall: Overall, the Hom-Bot has definitely cleaned up our act. It's easy to turn it loose every day and have it clean a different part of the main floor. We carry it up and down the stairs on weekends to do the top floor and the basement. It's a welcome addition to our house!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great vacuum !! make your life easier the LG Ocean Black VR65704LVM Vacuum, and so far, I am thoroughly enjoying this new tool. The things I like are -The power of the vacuum. I have two dogs, and one sheds a lot. I used to constantly see her hair around the house, but since I've been using this vacuum, the hair is gone. I credit this to the powerful sweepers on the front of the vacuum. -The remote control is easy to use and makes controlling the vacuum convenient. -The sensors ensure that the vacuum does not bump into walls or other objects. -The setup allows for turbo vacuuming. -The vacuum's voice feature is very helpful. It even has a reminder to empty the vacuum when needed! -The square shape of the vacuum helps facilitate cleaning corner areas, especially when compared with the round shape of most similar products on the market. Things about the vacuum that could be improved are -The rotating brush on the bottom easily gets clogged with hair, and it is hard to clean this part. It would be great if a tool could be provided to make this task easier. -The first day after I used the vacuum, the sides of the machine got badly scratched from wall corners. It would be great to have bumpers so the vacuum can always look sleek and unscathed. -The sensors on the vacuum have to be cleaned after every use in order for them to work. If there is a different place to put the sensors that would be more clean, it would be more convenient. -The side sweepers are fairly small. If more bulk could be added, these could really help get areas cleaner. -There is only one sweep mop used to clean hard flooring provided. It would be helpful to have two of these so that one can be used while the other is cleaned. All-in-all, I have enjoyed using the LG vacuum. It is convenient and easy-to-use. With a few small changes, this product would be perfect.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Shockingly Impressed Here is some background: In general I'm a big fan of LG products, we have several different products in our house and I have always been impressed. Yes there are some issues or quirks but those are minor. About a few months ago I was in the market to get some robotic vacuum for the house. While I was reviewing vacuum's, purchasing them and trying them out and returning them back due to issues I never knew that LG actually had a robot vacuum offering at all. Granted I never came specifically to LG website but my general searches on the web or walking to many stores to take a look at the actual models available I had never spotted an LG vacuum. So it was my surprise when I got an email from LG about the vacuum. So my first piece of advice is that there needs to be better marketing and store placement. Now for the review of the actual product: I currently own the LG vacuum and iRobot Braava for dry and wet mopping. I'm yet to try the dry mop feature in the LG vacuum, so I'm not going to comment on that part yet. Before I landed with this vacuum I have used the "iCLEBO Arte Robotic Vacuum" and "iRobot 980", returned them both. Pros: 1. The most impressive feature of this vacuum is the dust bin, oh my gosh, its really easy to use 2. Evasion technology is pretty good but does miss sometimes 3. Does a great job of picking up stuff, actually better than iRobot 4. Its pretty quiet in normal mode and a little loud in the performance mode. One of the main reasons I returned the iRobot was that it was super loud, I mean literally like you are next to an aircraft even when it was cleaning the wooden floor. We were not able to watch TV. But with the LG I just need to increase the volume a little bit more on the TV especially when it switches to performance mode on the rugs 5. The rug that we have under the dining table it pretty thick and has a lot of designs which add a little more thickness based on the patterns of the design. This place gets pretty dirty due to kids. LG did an awesome job of picking up stuff and cleaning it. Beat the iRobot and iClebo here. 6. Does not fall down the stairs, cliff detection is good 7. Corner cleaning is ok, not perfect but way better than the previous ones that I had 8. Area coverage is great 9. Return to base is also pretty accurate, the only time it has issues is that if I over increase the segment that I want cleaned - this is probably my fault though Cons: 1. The only issue with LG on textured rugs like the above mentioned under the dining table was at some spots over the design bumps it got stuck and I had to rescue it manually 2. We have a electric swing for the new born and the legs of those are wide and pretty high, I would say may be 2-3 inches high. Not sure why LG vacuum climbs over that and tries to vacuum and gets stuck most of the time 3. Like I had mentioned above, evasion technology is pretty good but when it does fail some bumps are pretty hard, they did not really damage anything yet but I can feel that the bump was hard 4. I think the price is too high especially since its missing some features that I would expect for a robot at this price range. Wifi access and probably software update as well 5. The charging take a long time but this may not be an real issue with LG since I have noticed this with other robots as well 6. I wish there was a virtual wall like iRobot, since LG doesn't have it I basically have to use the kids chairs or large kids toys to segment areas so that robot doesn't get lost

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product My wife and I really enjoy our HOM-BOT vacuum. We have three dogs at home, two of which shed terribly, so we were constantly cleaning our floors. The HOM-BOT has definitely made cleaning a lot easier. It is able to pick up the vast majority of the dog hair with one pass on either carpet or hardwood. Its mop function also provides the ability to clean the hardwood areas extra well. Our home is mostly hardwood with area rugs, and the HOM-BOT can transition between them easily. In fact, it will automatically turn off/on high suction when going between different surfaces. It is also able to go up and down some small inclines (about 1-2 inches) without trouble. It is small enough to fit under the bed and clean in places we haven’t cleaned in some time. Also, its square shape and brushes allow it to clean corners well. While the HOM-BOT works very well overall, it does have a few drawbacks. It is able to clean most of the house well, but tends to get stuck on heating/cooling vents that are on the floor. It will also get tangled in cords that are present on the floor, so those definitely need to be out of the way. We will often run it while we are nearby, just in case it gets stuck. Its cleaning algorithm will also occasionally miss some spots, so we will have to use manual mode (on the remote) to get every last spot. Finally, the side brushes can be a little loud when on the hardwood as well. Overall, we really enjoy the product and are very happy we have it. It will be a very valuable part of our cleaning in the future. Pros - Cleans corners well - Able to pick up dog hair well - Quiet overall (our baby sleeps with it on) - Can navigate small inclines and off/on carpets - Cleans hard to reach areas - Enough battery life (with some to spare) to clean the entire house (~1700 square feet) Cons - Gets stuck on vents/cords - Can be a little loud on hardwood - Occasionally needs manual navigation to get every spot clean

how do you  set boundaries so it won't go into the next room?

Asked by: roobot
We appreciate your interest in this robotic vacuum cleaner. It is suggested to review the options and instructions for the MY SPACE CLEANING mode on page 24 of the owner’s manual. This setting will allow operations in a manually designated area and will, in effect, eliminate the device running into another room.
