Laundry At the Speed of Life

Soccer practice. Groceries. Dinner. Dishes. Shouldn't your laundry move as fast as you? Now it can, with LG's enhanced TurboWash® technology. Powerful high-pressure nozzles save 30 minutes per load, cutting wash time by half—without shortcutting cleaning performance, even on larger loads. Innovation that keeps up with your family calendar? That's not just laundry done fast—it's laundry at the speed of life.

*Compared to an LG top load washer without TurboWash. Based on AHAM-HLW-1-2010 test protocol. Cotton / Normal or comparable cycle at default settings, 8 lb. loads. Excludes quick wash or comparable cycles intended for small, lightly soiled loads only.

More room to clean

When it comes to laundry capacity big is good, but bigger is better. Now you can wash a king size comforter and full set of bedding in a single load! At 5.2 cu ft of mega capacity, you'll definitely have more room to clean.

Experience Steam Cleaning

There's no clean like a steam clean. Our Steam™ technology gently but powerfully penetrates fabrics to virtually eliminate dirt, odors and wrinkles.

Count on it

When you buy a washer, you want something reliable that you can count on. Because the Direct Drive Motor uses fewer moving parts and operates more efficiently, LG confidently backs the motor with a 10-year warranty.

The hottest thing in cold clean

Using the cold cycle on your washer doesn’t have to mean compromising. ColdWash™ technology uses cold water and enhanced washing motions to penetrate deep into fabrics, giving you cold water savings with warm water performance.

Measure First

You found the LG washer that fits your lifestyle- now make sure it fits in your space. These LG models are larger than typical washers, measure to ensure your purchase can be successfully delivered and installed.

What People Are Saying

Rated 4.9 out of 5 by 418 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent machine Great results. One improvement would be to light the menu customization titles. Hard to see in my laundry room. August 15, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome washer! Big, fast and with lots of features. I love the way I can put in a whole bed, comforter and all at one time August 22, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by All around great product All around great product. Very efficient and easy to use. June 24, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by steam! This model does an awesome job cleaning our clothes and fits our sheets and large comforter perfectly. Together they take a bit longer to dry but understandably. We are impressed with all the different washes. We would definitely buy again. They are large and we had to take the doors of the laundry closet but they are very pretty to look at it so its ok to show them off. June 21, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 Super fast! Great features allows me to keep up on all the laundry my family of 6 makes daily!! Awesome speed and ease of use. Love it! It is amazing how quickly it can get clothes CLEAN! Everything from the baby's tiny messes to my husbands yard stained shirts look great! The large capacity allows for bigger loads. I was surprised at the spinning power this washer has! The towels stuck to the sides and top of the drum because it has done such a great job spinning out the water and cleaning them. So thankful I purchased this washer. Another side bonus when the timer says 1 minute left, it really mean about one minute not another 25 minutes like my old washer. LG innovation and quality at its best! June 12, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by So fast and quiet My new washer and dryer are wonderful. They are easy to use, faster than my old machines, very quiet, and I can wash a king size comforter. I am glad I decided on this pair. No regrets! July 22, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Have set both great This is the best washer I've had!! Love all of the features. Plenty is choices in different wash setting. The signal chimes so nice.the lighting in drum is very helpful feature July 20, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 Great Features Excellent features, but most of all love the capacity of both units; huge time saver! July 17, 2015

Answer:
Yes, my washer has a magnet that keeps the door ajar, just enough to let air flow through the machine so it doesn't have that issue.

Answer:
They tell you to leave the front door open for a few days after use (we always leave it open and have never had mold). They also tell you to wipe the rubber door seal (on the door and the washer itself, inside and outside) with white vinegar and water - we haven't done that yet and, still, no issue yet. We had our 4.0 size for 5 years and now the 5.1 size for 6 months.

Personally I have not had an issue. I have owned this for several months. I always take out my clothes when they are finished and leave the door on the magnetic hold open latch. Have not even had to run a drum cleaning cycle yet.

Answer:
My machine has no mold odor since I use the magnetic hold feature to keep the door open slightly when not in use.
The mold on front load machines builds up under the wet seal at the bottom in particular if the door is closed completely after washing. The water on the seal doesn't get a chance to evaporate.

Answer:
Yes. This washer has a special feature (called a "magnetic plunger") that keeps the door slightly open to allow air to circulate into the drum. It also has a "drum clean" cycle, which, if used approximately monthly, will keep the machine fresh and clean. The door seal is also smaller in width, which ensures that there's less of a place for mold and mildew to grow. Hope this helps!

What is the difference between the WM8000 HWA and HVA model? They seem identical when I compared them on your website, but there is a $100 price difference.

My washer makes loud banging noises when the cycle first starts up. Is this normal? It sounds like the pipes in my walls are gonna explode when the bangs start. I can still hear the bangs upstairs like it's the pipes in the wall. Anyone else experience this?

Answer:
that is water hammering, these new H/E washers start and stop the water flow abruptly which causes the noise. The noise is when the flow stops and the remaining water in the pipe hits a dead end causes this,to solve this just install a Water arrestor which is basically like a dampener or shock absorber allowing an extra room for the water to come to a slower stop, thus noise is lessened or gone entirely. Also try using larger hoses if you can.

My guess is you don't have a problem with your washer but simply have old pipes, like us. The only noise we hear is the pipes when filling the machine.

Answer:
It is not normal for there to be a banging noise at the beginning of a wash cycle. Such a sound through the pipes is typically called a Water Hammer. This sound, however, typically occurs when the water flow shuts off, rather than when the cycle starts. Otherwise, the unit may require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair....

Answer:
The door on this model is not reversible, unfortunately. The hinge is located on the left. The way my plumbing and dryer vent is set up right now I have to have the washer on the right and the dryer on the left. (Hopefully we can change that soon. . .) My previous front-loader also did not have a reversible door, so I'm used to it. In my opinion, this is NOT a deal-breaker. The machine is so great, I'm willing to put up with a little inconvenience.

From what I've read on answers to other washers, they do not make the doors on the washers reversible. I believe the hinge is on the left side.

I own a veterinary hospital and in one of our veterinary publications we saw an article about commercial washers. In it, the WM2801 was suggested as good commercial unit for large heavy loads, i.e., lots of blankets and comforters. Since the 2801 is no longer available, should I consider the 8000 as a replacement model?

I would recommend the 5.1 size if you want to wash things like king size comforters and blankets. It has a set wash cycle for bulky items, towels, and one for the king size bedding. I can fit in my king flannel comforter and a king sized fleece blanket in one load and both come out perfectly clean.
