I know it goes against recommendations to allow children under the age of 2 to watch screens but when you’re desperate to cook dinner or even eat in peace - you’ll learn that 10-15 minutes isn’t going to irreparably harm your child and that’s just the tip of the iceberg as to how the Stanbyme 2 has helped me! I’ve been able to enjoy more me time when my baby is asleep by popping on the shows, I haven’t had a chance to watch in ages right in front of me while holding my son in my arms, no phone or aching arm required. There are so many practical uses for the Stanbyme 2 that I actually honestly have barely begun to enjoy most of them - I can use it in the kitchen for recipes, play games with friends, and as my son gets older I’ll be able to use the drawing feature to teach him letters and numbers all while having it hung on my wall like a framed piece of art - what more could I want from a portable screen? I highly suggest buying this as it is an investment for your day to day and will bring joy to your family, no matter what age they are.

Unboxing & Setup

The packaging was brilliant and my husband put it together in no time (I supervised from the sofa with snacks, obviously). All you need to do is screw the base to the stand with four screws, and the screen literally clicks into place. Easy. The accessories kit was the icing on the cake. It included a strap so you can actually carry the screen around (genius!), a stand to use it like a computer monitor, and a folio cover that basically turned it into the world’s biggest iPad (my kids thought this was hilarious).

Functionality

The screen is sharp, the sound is great, and the stand is sturdy enough that I don’t panic when my kids get too close (which is often). On a full charge it runs for about four hours, which is just enough for me to binge Love Is Blind in peace (don’t judge). All the main apps are there, including Netflix, YouTube, Prime and Disney+, plus there’s an app store if you want more. It even has built-in games. I actually found my two daughters (who normally argue non-stop) quietly playing games together. That moment of peace alone during the summer holidays sold it for me.

My husband was thrilled he could use it as a second wireless display for his laptop since we don’t have space for an office screen (the spare room has been hijacked by the baby). The LG StanbyME 2 has slotted into our home so perfectly it feels like it’s always been here. It keeps the kids entertained, helps my husband work, and lets me sneak in a bit of me-time when I can. Honestly, after just two weeks, it feels like part of the family.

The only downside? The minor panic attack when I realised my two-week review was over and they were coming to collect it (I may have shed a tear).I honestly don’t know how I’m going to survive without it. How would I describe the LG StanbyME 2? It is a TV, a giant (but still very much portable) tablet, a monitor, a drawing board and games all rolled into one. It is a great fit for families, couples, and even office environments.

The setup was simple, I did, however, delegate to my husband and 9-year-old as I always do with anything remotely techy. Almost immediately it was in use, and everyone was fighting to have the first go.

Gaps in our lives that we didn’t realise we had were quickly addressed……

We have chosen not to have TVs permanently in our bedrooms, however occasionally we do wish that we could watch something in bed…..so on a couple of evenings the LG StanbyME 2 was swiftly wheeled in!

Of course, this product is not perfect. It is very rare that modern technological products are. The LG StanbyME 2 is a little heavy if you are carrying it around with the strap attachment and I wish there were more built-in apps (a Netflix binge night would have been fab). This limitation might have been due to the sample product restrictions but it would have been lovely to explore these features anyway. Another small improvement I thought of, would be to include a charging light behind or near the base stand to save users from having to keep switching the product on to check its battery life. But once all is said and done…

Life’s Good
