[LG TV Screen] Both sides of the screen black out.

Troubleshooting

When the screen aspect ratio is set to 4:3, the left and right sides of the screen are reduced.
Some broadcast programs will appear in 4:3 format regardless of the TV's aspect ratio setting, as it depends on how they were produced.

Causes and Symptoms

  • The picture does not fit the screen with the left and right sides appearing in black.

Try this

Select Screen Size in the Picture menu and set it to 16:9.

→ Select Home → Settings → All Settings (Advanced Settings) → Picture → Screen Size → Aspect Ratio Settings → 16:9

When watching a broadcast using a set-top box, if the video is cut off at the bottom and right of the screen or
only displayed at the center as shown below, please contact the set-top service provider.
