If your TV screen appears black and white, first check whether Grayscale mode is enabled, and turn it off.
To determine if there is an issue with the TV itself, run a Picture Test (Screen Self-diagnosis).
Note that if Grayscale mode is on, the Picture Test image will also appear black and white.

Possible Causes of Black & White Screen
- [Grayscale] mode is enabled on your TV.
- The signal from the set-top box or other external device is unstable.
- The HDMI cable connected to the TV is damaged or not properly connected.
- Antenna broadcasting signal sent to the TV is unstable.
- The TV itself is malfunctioning.
Troubleshooting Black & White Screen
Make sure [Grayscale] mode is turned off.

If the image displayed is abnormal, please note down your TV model and contact LG Support for assistance.
※ To check your TV model name, select [No] when prompted during Screen Self-Diagnosis.
If the Picture Test shows no issues, it is likely that the issue does not lie with the TV itself.
Inspect the HDMI cable that connects the set-top box or another external device to the TV.
Reconnect the set-top box HDMI cable
Turn off both the TV and set-top box. Disconnect the HDMI cable (or component) from the back of the TV and
reconnect
it.
It is recommended to use a genuine HDMI cable.
Perform an AV Reset
- TVs released after 2025 [webOS 25~]: Press the remote control Settings [] button three times in succession to reset the audio and video.
- TVs released before 2024 [~webOS 24]: Press the remote control Mute [] button three times in succession to reset the audio and video.
