LG Magic Remotes for TVs released in 2021 or later do not have a dedicated set-top box power button. If a No Signal message appears on your TV, press the More Actions (...) button on the remote and select the on-screen Power icon to turn on the set-top box.
Why Doesn't the Set-Top Box Turn On?
To simplify the design, LG Magic Remotes released in 2021 or later no longer include a dedicated set-top box power button. Because of this change, you can no longer turn on the set-top box using a dedicated button on the remote. The set-top box may remain off, and No Signal may appear on the TV even if you select Yes in the on-screen prompt.
How to Turn On the Set-Top Box
If a [No Signal] message appears on your screen, follow these steps:
Step 1. Press the More Actions Button
Press the More Actions (...) button near the bottom right of the Magic Remote.
Step 2. Select the Power Icon
When the additional menu appears on the screen, use the remote pointer to select the Power icon. This will turn on the set-top box.
When selecting Power, make sure to point the Magic Remote directly at the set-top box, not the TV. The remote signal must reach the set-top box to turn it on.
FAQ
- Q. What If the Set-Top Box Power Option Doesn't Appear?
- A. This usually means Universal Control isn't set up between your TV and set-top box. To fix this, go to Universal Control Settings on your TV, select Set-Top Box, and choose your service provider. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
