If Your LG TV Won't Turn On

Troubleshooting

If your TV won’t turn on, check the power connection and the standby light on the lower edge of the TV.
Disconnect the power cord, reconnect it securely, and then press the power button on the TV.
If the TV turns on with the power button, replace the remote control batteries.
If the TV still does not turn on, check the power outlet and circuit breaker.

Why Won’t the TV Turn On?

  • Loose Power Connection
  • Depleted remote batteries or signal interference
  • Power outlet or circuit breaker issue
  • Hardware issue

Troubleshooting Steps

Step 1. Check the Standby Light

  • In standby mode, the light at the bottom of the TV should be on.
  • If the standby light is off, check the power cord.

Step 2. Check the Power Cord

  • Unplug the power cord from the back of your TV and the wall outlet. Plug it back in securely.
  • If your TV has a built-in cord, unplug and reconnect it at the wall outlet.

Step 3. Test the Remote Control

  • If your TV turns on using the built-in power button, replace the remote batteries with new ones.
  • To test the remote's signal, point it at an Android phone's camera and press any button.
  • If you don't see a flashing light on the screen, the remote might not be working.
  • This camera test may not work on iPhones.

Step 4. Check the Power Outlet and Circuit Breaker

  • Plug another device into the same outlet to see if it supplies power.
  • If the other device doesn't work, check if your home's circuit breaker has tripped. Reset it if necessary.

Step 5. Try the Power Button on Your TV

  • Press the power button located under the logo or on the back of your TV.
  • If your TV turns on, the issue is likely with the remote control or the remote sensor.
