Causes and Symptoms
- The set temperature in the refrigerator is not appropriate.
- The refrigerator is full of food products.
- The refrigerator door is not properly closed.
- The location where the refrigerator is installed is unsuitable.
- The refrigerator was installed recently.
Refrigerators use the principle of absorbing heat from the surroundings as when the ice melts to become water or when water vaporizes.
If the produced cold air does not circulate evenly within the refrigerator, the inside will feel less cool overall.
If the temperature of the refrigerator is set [4-6 ℃] higher or if the location of installation is not suitable, cold air may feel less cool even when the product is operating normally.
Try this
Is the refrigerator temperature adequate?
➔ Adjust the temperature [1-2℃] lower.
The refrigeration temperature is set to 3 ℃ when first installed.
However, if the fridge door is opened and closed too often during hot summers, the temperature of the refrigerator may not feel as cold.
If the cold air in the fridge is not cold enough, try lowering the temperature.
② Next adjust the [Fridge temperature] to one or two degrees lower.
③ The location of the temperature control button may vary depending on the product model. In such cases, refer to the user manual for the product.
Is the refrigerator too full of food products?
➔ Fill the refrigerator to only about 60% of the food capacity so that cold air can circulate evenly.
When food products in the refrigerator block the cold air outlet, the inside may feel not as chilled, even when the refrigerator is operating normally.
Also, there will be increased power consumption.
According to the Korea Energy Agency, it is recommended to fill the refrigerator to only 60% of its capacity.
That will allow thorough circulation of cold air and maintain cold temperatures over a long period.
Is the refrigerator door not closing properly?
➔ Check the points below in order to ensure that the refrigerator door closes completely.
If the refrigerator door does not completely close, warm air from the outside can enter and render the cooling function ineffective.
- After cleaning the refrigerator, if the door does not close because the drawers or shelves are assembled incorrectly, pull out the drawers and shelves and reinsert them correctly into their positions.
- If the door is loose due to too much food on a refrigerator door shelf, remove some of the food.
- If the door does not close properly due to the door gasket getting sticky with contaminants, clean it and do so regularly.
- Contact LG Electronics service center for guidance if the door gasket is worn out and is causing a gap between the door and the refrigerator body.
Is the refrigerator installed too close to a wall or the sink?
➔ Keep a distance of 10cm between the back and sides of the refrigerator and walls.
When the refrigerator operates to chill the inside, it produces hot air that flows out through the fan under the back of the refrigerator.
But if there is no space between the refrigerator and the wall, it can be difficult for this hot air to escape.
Refrigeration will eventually become weak due to the cooling not being able to operate properly.
Is the refrigerator in a place that undergoes drastic temperature changes or out on a balcony?
➔ The refrigerator will operate best in places where the ambient temperature is 5-43℃.
Move the installation location indoors.
than 43 ℃, the refrigerator may find it difficult to adapt to the ambient temperature changes.
Typically, when the temperature is too low in winter, the refrigerator sensor will detect the cold temperature and slow the cold air circulation process.
If the refrigerator is installed outside, such as on a balcony, move it indoors so that is less affected by ambient temperature.
Was the refrigerator installed only recently?
➔ It requires time to produce sufficient cold air to reach appropriate refrigerated food temperatures for the storage of food.
Place food in the refrigerator after allowing enough time for the inside to chill.
After plugging in the power plug, it takes about 1-2 hours for the refrigerator to reach the set temperature.
After the initial installation, the cooling may feel weak, so wait for a reasonable amount of time for the refrigerator to reach the set operating temperature before placing food in it.
In summer, it may even take 2-3 days for the refrigerator to be filled thoroughly with cold air.
