The door gasket is designed to keep the refrigerator door tightly sealed, preventing cold air from escaping. Inside the gasket, rubber magnets help the door close seamlessly and stay firmly shut. To maintain its effectiveness, wipe the door gasket regularly with detergent to keep it clean.
What to Do
Is the refrigerator door not closing properly because it’s too full?
➔ Remove some food to allow the door to close and seal completely.
Is the refrigerator door not closing because the refrigerator shelves are not assembled properly?
➔ Remove the drawers or shelves and then reinsert them correctly.
If the drawers or shelves are assembled incorrectly after cleaning the refrigerator, the refrigerator door may not close properly.
Do fridge covers and plastic bags get in the way while opening and closing the refrigerator door?
➔ Tidy the space as these objects will prevent the refrigerator door from closing.
If there is a cover on top of the refrigerator or a plastic bag inside a door shelf, remove it as it may get stuck in the refrigerator door.
Does the door gasket have a foreign substance so that it won't attach to the refrigerator body properly?
➔ Clean the door gasket with detergent.
If there are foreign substances on the surface of the door gasket, the door may not close properly due to poor adhesion.
Wipe the door gasket with a hot steam towel, and then clean it with detergent using a toothbrush or a sponge.
Is the refrigerator door not closing properly because the door gasket has fallen off?
➔ Press the door gasket with your hands to tuck it back in place.
If a part of the door gasket is hanging out or sagging, tuck it back into the groove on the refrigerator door.
