LG Refrigerator - Water Droplets Form on Rubber Gasket (Condensation)

Troubleshooting

Let's find out more.

When it is humid, moisture in the air can condense into water droplets on the refrigerator's door gasket when you open and close the door.
This is similar to how condensation forms on a cold water bottle. This is normal.
Wipe the moisture from the refrigerator surface and door gasket with a dry towel.

Try this.

Is the refrigerator installed in a humid area or near a window?

→ For optimal performance, install your refrigerator in a location with a temperature between 5°C and 43°C (41°F and 109°F), low humidity, and good ventilation.

If your refrigerator is installed near a balcony or window where humid air can easily enter, condensation may form on the door gasket. Wipe the gasket with a dry towel.

Is the refrigerator door not closing completely, allowing cold air to escape?

→ Check the following and ensure the refrigerator door is fully closed.

If the refrigerator door isn't closed tightly, cold air can escape and mix with humid air, causing condensation on the door gasket.
After cleaning the refrigerator, check that drawers and shelves are correctly installed.
If they are misaligned, remove and re-install them.
If the refrigerator is overpacked, remove some items.
Ensure items stored on top of the refrigerator or plastic bags in the door bins aren't obstructing the door.
If the door gasket is sticky or dirty, clean it frequently.

Is there debris on the door gasket preventing the refrigerator door from sealing properly and causing cold air to leak?

→ Clean the door gasket with a hot, steamy towel.

  1. 1. Wet a towel with water.
  2. 2. Microwave the towel to create a steamy towel.
(It should be hot enough to require wearing rubber gloves.
You can also soak the towel in hot water.)
  3. 3. Wipe all four sides of the door gasket thoroughly.
  4. 4. Reheat the towel in the microwave and wipe the gasket again.
    Repeat this process 2-3 times.
  5. 5. After cleaning, dry the gasket completely with a dry towel to prevent further condensation.
  6. 6. Keep the refrigerator door closed for at least two hours after cleaning to allow the gasket to seal properly.
If the gasket is loose or detached, preventing a proper seal, press it back into the groove on the refrigerator door.
If the door gasket is damaged and needs to be replaced, please request a repair service.
