[LG Refrigerator] Troubleshooting Frozen Food in the Refrigerator Compartment

Troubleshooting

Try this.

Is the refrigerator temperature set too low (Strong/0\~1℃)?

To prevent food from freezing, set the refrigerator temperature higher (Medium or Weak/3\~6℃).

1. Unlock the controls by pressing the [Lock/Unlock] button on the refrigerator's display panel.
2. Increase the [Refrigerator Temperature] by one or two levels.
3. The location of the temperature control buttons may vary depending on the model. Refer to your owner's manual if needed.

Is the food stored on the top shelf of the refrigerator?

Store food on lower shelves or in the crisper drawers, away from the cold air vent.

The back of the top shelf is near the cold air vent, where the temperature can be close to 0℃. Food stored near this vent may freeze. Store fruits, vegetables, and other items prone to freezing on lower shelves or in the crisper drawers. Ideally, the refrigerator should be about 60% full.

If food is blocking the cold air vent, rearrange the items to ensure proper airflow.

If your refrigerator has a Custom Chill Drawer, set it to [Refrigerator] mode. The [Meat/Fish] setting uses a lower temperature than the [Fruit/Vegetable] setting, which can freeze foods with high water content. To change the setting, press the Custom Chill button, then press the Left (<) or Right (>) button to select the desired mode. Press the OK button to confirm.
The setting will not be applied if you do not press the OK button or if you press the Back button.

Is the refrigerator overpacked?

Rearrange food items to ensure they are not blocking the temperature sensor.

If food is blocking the temperature sensor, the refrigerator may overcool and freeze food. This can also increase energy consumption. Make sure food items are not blocking the temperature sensor, which is usually located inside the top compartment of the refrigerator.

If the issue persists, it may indicate a product malfunction. Contact LG Customer Service at for assistance and diagnosis.

The location of the temperature sensor may vary depending on the model.
