[LG dryer] The dryer door won’t close, or the door opens during use.

Troubleshooting

This phenomenon is caused because either there is too much laundry, or it is part of the process of the dryer door settling.

The volume of clothing and duvets is reduced when they are wet, and returns to its original bulk during the drying cycle.
If the volume of the laundry is too high in relation to the dryer’s capacity, the laundry’s volume will increase as drying progresses, causing the dryer door to open.

Causes and Symptoms

  • The dryer door won’t close.
  • The door opens whilst using the dryer.

Try this

Load only one duvet at a time.

➔ If the loaded laundry only fills approximately half of the drum, as seen from the dryer door, the drying efficiency will be optimal, in relation to the dryer’s capability.

Unlike washing machines, some dryer models do not have a lock function.

➔ Take caution, as the doors of those models may open and the operation may stop if you apply force whilst the dryer is working.

In the case of a new product, it takes several drying cycles for the door gasket of the dryer door to settle.

➔ If the degree of opening become similar to that of a washer after 3 to 5 drying cycles following purchase of the machine, it is in good order to use.
