Repair

Robot vacuum cleaner or battery is not charged? Robot vacuum cleaner does not automatically go into the charging station?

Causes and Symptoms

  • Robot vacuum cleaner is in the charging station but charging does not start.
  • There is a foreign object in the charging port.
  • Battery is discharged or used for long time and it is necessary to replace it.
  • Robot vacuum cleaner is charging in a cold place.
  • The robot vacuum cleaner cannot return to the charging station for automatic charging.

Normally, it takes 4 hours to charge the robot vacuum cleaner.
However, if the power plug is slipped from the charging station and power supply is failed, then charging will fail as a result.
Also, when there is a foreign object in the charging port, it can interfere with a port contact to fail power supply.
After the cleaning, if the robot vacuum cleaner does not automatically return to the charging station for charging, then check if the power plug is slipped or if there is an obstacle near the charging station.

Try this

Is the charging lamp of the charging station flickering?

➔ If the lamp is not lit, then check if the power plug is firmly inserted into the charging station or if the ports make a good contact with each other.

If the charging lamp is still lit, then it means that there is ongoing charging.
If the lamp is off, then there is no contact between the ports, thus take out the robot vacuum cleaner and insert it again.

Check the charging station charging indicator lamp

Is there foreign object such as dust or hair in the charging port of the cleaning machine or the charging station?

➔ Foreign object can interfere with a contact with the port to fail the charging, so make sure to remove it.

Use a dry patch to wipe off foreign objects or use a soft brush to shake off foreign objects.
In this case, if you exert excessive force, then the port can get bent and damaged. So, be careful.

Wiping away foreign substances from the charging station and charging terminal of the robot vacuum cleaner.
Warning!

Before cleaning the charging station, make sure to first disconnect the power plug for your safety.
In addition, if you use volatile or organic solvents such as thinner, solvent or acetone to clean the product, it can cause damages to it, so make sure to only use dry cloth or soft brush.

Is the battery fully discharged? Or is it used for long time and is it necessary to replace it?

➔ If discharged, then manually charge the robot vacuum cleaner.
Also, the battery for the robot vacuum cleaner is a consumable part, so, if expired, replace it.

To manually charge it, align the robot vacuum cleaner with the front of the charging station.
If the battery does not last long even after fully charging the robot vacuum cleaner, then it means that the battery lifespan is expired.

Is it being charged in a location with low temperature?

➔ Charging might fail below 5°C(41℉), so charge it indoors.

If used for a long time below 5°C(41℉) or above 38°C(100℉), the battery lifespan can get also reduced.

After cleaning, the robot vacuum cleaner does not return to the charging station?

➔ Start cleaning while the robot vacuum cleaner is in the charging station.
If the robot vacuum cleaner has a difficulty in moving to the charging station, then move the charger.

Unless it starts cleaning at the charging station, it might fail to find the charging station and charge on its own.
In this case, press the [Home] button on the robot vacuum cleaner or remote control to move it to the charging station.
If the charging station is on a non flat ground or if there is an obstacle such as a doorsill, then the robot vacuum cleaner might have hard times returning to the charging station.
In this case, move the charging station to a new location.

Wait! Find out more.
After charging for all day long, if the charging lamp of the charging station is flickering to indicate ongoing charging, then there might be a problem with the robot vacuum cleaner or adapter.
