LG Monitor Won’t Turn On

Troubleshooting

If your LG monitor won't turn on, the power strip may be switched off, the power adapter may be loose, or the connected computer may be in sleep mode.
First, plug another device into the power strip to confirm it has power.
Then firmly reconnect the power adapter to the back of the monitor.
If all connections are secure but the monitor's on-screen menu still does not appear, the monitor likely has a hardware fault. Contact LG Support for assistance.

Why Won’t the Monitor Turn On?

1. The Power Strip Is Not Supplying Power

The power strip may be turned off, or its built-in breaker may have tripped.

2. The Power Adapter or Cord Is Loose

A loose power cord or adapter connection can interrupt power to the monitor.

3. The Computer Is in Sleep Mode

The monitor may appear to be off if the connected computer is in sleep mode.

4. The Monitor or Power Adapter May Be Faulty

An issue with the monitor or power adapter may prevent the device from receiving power.

How to Troubleshoot a Monitor That Won’t Turn On

Step 1. Check the Power Strip and Wall Outlet

Plug another device, such as a phone charger or lamp, into the power strip to see if it works.
If the device does not work, make sure the power strip is turned on or try a different one.
To test the power source directly, plug the monitor straight into a wall outlet.

Step 2. Securely Reconnect the Power Adapter and Cord

Make sure the power cord is fully inserted into the wall outlet or power strip.
Firmly push the power cord into the power adapter.
Firmly push the adapter plug into the power port on the back of the monitor.

Step 3. Check the Monitor Menu and Wake the Computer

Button on the lower front of the monitor

Press the button or joystick on the monitor to open the on-screen menu. Depending on your model, this may be located on the bottom, front, or back of the monitor.
If your monitor comes with a remote control, press the Settings button to see if the menu appears.
f the on-screen menu appears, the monitor itself is working fine, so the problem is likely with the computer or its connection. Wake the computer from sleep mode, and check the cable between the computer and the monitor.
If the on-screen menu does not appear and the monitor does not respond, the monitor likely has a hardware issue. Contact LG Support for assistance.

Step 4. Still need help?

If the issue persists after following the steps above, you can get further support through LG Chatbot on our website or by requesting a technician visit.
