[LG Laptop] How to reset the power

Troubleshooting

You can use power reset to resolve the problems with temporary Windows booting failures or system hanging.
(Press the power button for more than 10 seconds and release pressing fingers)

Causes and Symptoms

In case of needs for power reset.

  • If Windows is stopped during use or not terminated properly.
  • If power is on but the screen is blank or the screen is frozen during booting.
  • If the booting is halted after the LG Logo is displayed.
  • If a booting error occurs after updating Windows.
  • If you cannot turn off the power due to temporary blue screen effects of Windows.
  • While using the laptop, if the screen suddenly frozen and there is no reaction even after you press the mouse or keyboard.

Try this

If the booting stops after showing the LG logo, then disconnect the external device and power on again.

If there is an external device connected to the laptop, disconnect them all and try to boot it again.

※ Due to issues with a connected external device(USB, SD memory card and etc), it might stop after showing the LG logo and the booting fails.

If there is an external device connected to the laptop, disconnect them all and try to boot it again.

How to reset the laptop power.

➔ Laptop with a built-in battery.

1. Unplug the power adapter.

Unplug the power adapter.

2. Press the power button for more than 10 seconds and release pressing fingers.
(Depending on the product, press it for more than 6 seconds to reset the power.)

※ If the power on failure persists after power reset, then you need to have it inspected by an LG Electronics service technician.


➔ Laptop with an external battery.

1. Unplug the power adapter.

2. Unlock the laptop battery by moving it left/right and grab the battery and remove it from the laptop.

3. Remove the battery and turn on the power by mounting the battery after about 1 minute.

When the power adapter is connected, check if the power status lamp is lit.

➔ If the AC power status lamp is not lit, then it can be due to a problem with the power supply adapter.
1. On : AC adapter power is connected and charging is fully done.
2. Flickering : AC adapter power is connected and charging is going on.
3. Off : AC adapter power is not connected.
※ Do not use an adapter other than the AC adapter provided in the product package at the time of purchase.
AC adapter shape/color might differ depending on the country or model.
(There is no difference in functions apart from what it looks like.)

Check the laptop power adapter connections.

➔ The power cord jack connected to the laptop is in a dual structure, thus gently insert it and then press it more firmly for a connection.
1. After connecting the power supply adapter to the laptop and charging the battery for some time, check if the power is on.
2. If the laptop is powered off, then check if the adapter is correctly connected.
If the laptop is powered off, then check if the adapter is correctly connected.
