Is your air conditioner not blowing cold air, or does the cooling feel weak?
Cooling performance can be affected by the environment or the settings of your indoor and outdoor units. Before scheduling a service visit, please check the key items below:
- Power check: Make sure the unit is plugged directly into a dedicated wall outlet.
- Settings check: Set the unit to Cooling mode with a target temperature of 18°C (64°F). Let it run for at least 30 minutes.
- Indoor unit check: Clean any dust from the fine dust filter.
- Outdoor unit check: Make sure the heat exchanger on the back of the unit is not blocked. During extreme heat, you can spray water on the outdoor unit to help it cool down.
Please Note
- Do not use multiple adapters or extension cords. Overloading the circuit may cause electric shock or fire.
- Filter removal methods may vary by model. Refer to your user manual for details.
The air conditioner may not cool or may be weak in the following cases
Air conditioners consume a large amount of power. If the power supply is unstable, cooling may be weak or the unit may turn off.
If the operating mode is set incorrectly, the unit will not blow cold air.
A dirty filter can reduce cooling performance and cause noise or condensation.
Try the following solutions to fix the low cooling capacity of your air conditioner
Step 1. Check the power connection
- 1. Reconnect the power cord:
A loose plug may cause overheating or unexpected shutdowns.
Unplug the cord, let it cool for about 30 minutes, then plug it back in securely and restart the unit. - 2. Use a dedicated wall outlet:
Avoid using power strips. We recommend plugging the unit directly into a dedicated wall outlet. - 3. If you must use a power strip:
Do not connect multiple devices. Use the power strip only for the air conditioner.
Step 2. Check the cooling mode and temperature settings
- Set Cooling mode: Use the remote control to select Cooling.
- Lower the temperature: Set the target temperature to 18°C (64°F) and let it run for at least 30 minutes to see if it blows cold air.
(Note: If the unit is set to Air Purifier only, Dry, AI, or Energy Saving mode, the cooling may feel weak.)
Step 3. Clean the indoor unit's fine dust filter
- 1. Pull the front cover forward to open it.
- 2. Lift the filter up to remove it.
- 3. Use a vacuum or a soft brush to remove the dust.
Step 4. Check and cool the outdoor unit (heat exchanger)
- 1. Remove obstructions:
Make sure there are no objects or debris blocking the heat exchanger. If heat cannot escape, the unit may not cool properly. - 2. Cool the outdoor unit during extreme heat:
Air conditioners may not cool properly in temperatures below 18°C (64°F) or above 48°C (118°F).
During a heat wave, if the outdoor unit is exposed to direct sunlight and overheats, it may not circulate refrigerant properly, causing it to stop blowing cold air.- Unplug the air conditioner.
- Spray some water on the top of the unit and the heat exchanger to help it cool down.
- 3. Install a sunshade:
Installing a sunshade to block direct sunlight can significantly improve cooling efficiency.
(Note: Standard installation for window air conditioners requires 400–1500 mm (16–59 in) of indoor clearance, a 10–15 mm (0.4–0.6 in) outward tilt, and at least 500 mm (20 in) of clearance from the wall behind the unit.)
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- Q. Is it safe to spray water on the outdoor unit?
-
A. Yes, it is safe. Outdoor units are designed to withstand rain.
During extreme heat, unplugging the unit and spraying some water on the outdoor unit can help restore cooling performance.
- Q. How often should I clean the filter?
- A. This depends on your usage, but during peak summer months, we recommend cleaning the fine dust filter about once every two weeks to maintain cooling efficiency and good air quality.
