[LG Air Conditioner Error Code][Wall-Mounted] CH and 61 alternatively blink on the display

Troubleshooting

[Cooling] Inspection code of error CH 61 can be displayed to protect the product when the temperature of the evaporator of the outdoor unit rises high.
[Heating] Error code CH61 may appear if the temperature inside the indoor unit rises high because of thick layer of dusts on the indoor unit filter.

Causes and Symptoms

[Cooling]

  • The window of the outdoor unit chamber is closed.
  • Obstacles are stacked around the outdoor unit to interrupt ventilation.
  • Error code CH61 does not disappear from the display.

[Heating]

  • The indoor unit filter is covered with thick layer of dust.

[Cooling]
Error code CH61 appears when the temperature in the outdoor unit rises high during the cooling mode.
If the place of the outdoor unit is not well ventilated, hot air does not exhaust out of the building, and the temperature in the outdoor unit chamber rises high.
The error code is displayed for preventing fire and product failure.

[Heating]
Error code CH61 appears if the temperature inside the indoor unit rises high during operation of the air conditioner in the heating mode.
The error code appears if outdoor is not well inhaled into the indoor unit. The major cause is contamination of the indoor unit filter.

➔ Remove obstacles around the outdoor unit to ensure good ventilation.

If obstacles are stacked around the outdoor unit, hot air from the outdoor unit is not discharged out of the building.
Hot air from the outdoor unit returns into the outdoor unit back.
In such a case, the air conditioner operate under overload to cause higher electric bill and degrading of cooling capability.
Remove obstacles from the front, the sides and the rear of the outdoor unit for ensuring sufficient ventilation.

Is the outdoor unit installed at height lower than the ventilation window?

➔ Keep the outdoor unit aligned with the ventilation window.

If the outdoor unit is installed at height lower than the ventilation window, some of hot air is not discharged out of the building.
It is desirable to install a stand under the outdoor unit to keep the outdoor unit parallel with the ventilation window.

Is the distance between the outdoor unit and the ventilation window great?

➔ If it is hard to move the outdoor unit, install an air guide.

If the distance between the outdoor unit and the ventilation window too great, ventilation becomes poor, and the temperature inside the outdoor unit chamber may rise high.
In such a case, install an air guide to let hot air from the outdoor unit directly discharged out of the building.

The experiment results of LG Electronics indicate that installing an air guide drops the temperature inside the outdoor unit chamber by approximately 6℃ to 8℃.
