What People Are Saying

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 60 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful product with great features I love my new Lg 11,000 BTU portable air conditioner Living on the top floor of an apt Bldg was miserable in the winter months ! But now I am very comfortable .This product has great features and cools my 425 sq ft apt I highly recommend this product Thank you December 26, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Well made and a great value We were looking for something to cool our large master bedroom. Running the central AC is overkill. We looked at different brands and saw this one at Wal Mart. The price was great. I was skeptical due to owning a portable AC unit from a different company - it doesn't work that well at all. Its mainly for spot cooling. However, this LG unit cools quickly and is quiet and has advanced features. It really does cool the room quickly. The only issue is that when you use the timer, the AC shuts off after the time specified but something still runs (quietly) in the background until you shut the unit off. December 3, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 Ideal fix We recently bought a beach house in Florida. We needed a quick fix while we renovated the house. Since we live out of state. This AC unit is very easy to set up into the window sill for the blower attachment. It allows us to fully secure the house while we are away. The unit is very quiet that you barely hear it at night. It cools down the master bedroom quickly. Our energy bills are low and should be lower with the new windows. The interesting aspect is very little condensation on the unit even when we roll it to the side when we easily remove the duct from the window August 31, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by My old dog and I are finally comfortable I bought this air conditioner for my aging dog who has trouble breathing on hot summer days. I soon realized that the cooling air was great for me too. It's a very good, healthy product. August 17, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Cooling the Desert Dwelling It does everything I expected. Easy to use and quiet enough to not interfere with TV or other activities. Had a minor problem with the unit approximately 1 month after we got it. Called LG Service and repairman came the following day! Service is excellent and the unit is performing very well. Rated 5 out of 5 by 2nd one owned now. It's just that good! I have an older version as well, which is still WONDERFUL. This one has not let us down at all. I was surprised at how much weight these have shed from a couple years. It was MUCH easier to carry up and down stairs in our three story home. We love using the timer, and remote control. It is surprisingly quiet in operation too. We couldn't imagine not having these around. Bonus: I can use it to help dehumidify and "Clear" the air for my asthma! Usually a muggy day makes it harder for me to breathe and I enjoy using my portable air conditioner to improve indoor breathing quality too. August 13, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Worth the price! It was my first time to buy a portable AC and my one bedroom house doesn't have any air conditioner and I was told by my land lady that I'm not allowed to put any window type AC..so I made some research about portable AC and I found this one..I'm happy with my purchase and it cools down my whole house because I set it up in my living room so that the cold air will be well distributed in my kitchen and bedroom..It is easy to set up on my old window type for the exhaust thing..I just love the timer settings which you can set automatically for a specific time you wanted it to turn on or off..kinda pricy but it is worth it..and I noticed that it does not consume too much of electricity because when I had my electric bill it is still the same amount to my surprise..I was expecting a higher bill because of the AC but I was wrong..I would recommend this if you have a small place like mine..:-) July 25, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Gets the job done Had this unit for almost two years in that time I've maybe had to empty the water in it 5 or 6 times. About few days ago it started shutting off because the water tray was full, we live in Southern California so the humidity isn't a high factor. No problem emptied the water after unplugging the unit and cleaned the filter ran ok for me..... so I thought. I work swing shift wife calls me at work saying the unit stopped working again because of the water tray getting full she only ran it for an hour. No problem drained it when I got home ran for an hour shut off again and hearing it beep at 3 am in the morning because yup the water tray was full again, unplugged it. Following day I drained it once again let it sit for a day so it could dry out. Once it was dry I took the front cover off, grabbed my air compressor with air nozzle and blew all the crude out of inside. We have 3 cats so there was cat hair every where. Once I got all the cat hair removed, I re-installed the front cover which by the way has about 8 screws holding it on. Plugged it in ran it for 2 hours no more excessive water build up in the water tray. :) Real test comes tonight when the wife gets home. June 21, 2013

What keeps bugs from coming through the hose and into your home

Answer:
The exhaust air blowing through the hose (that vents your room's hot air to the outside of your home) gets very warm, and is at a high wind speed when the a/c is running. In the past 3 years I have never had a bug or flying insect go in there while the unit is on. It's never happened to us, but at night, I don't see why a bug wouldn't be able to crawl in there. Maybe you could put some sort of a screen over the end of the hose, outside, so that wouldn't happen.

Answer:
The vent/diffuser is the outsource for the heat that is extracted from your home. Air will continue to be pushed to the outside.

Hi - I have tall windows that slide open left to right, so I have to install the window vent vertically instead of horizontally. 1. Can that be done? 2. What is the length that the window vent can be expanded, so I can then determine if my windows are too tall for this or not? Thank you.

Answer:
Yes it can be done depending on how tall the window is you may need some extra materials but measure how tall the opening is and read materials on length of window material in kit. It's quite a bit.

Answer:
Yes, it can be done. The length that the window vent can be expanded to is 18 - 48" tall windows. If you have any more questions about installation of the vent page 17 of the user manual (found on the product support page) provides the information for a complete install.

Mine did the same. I realized that much of the liquid was still in the unit after I opened the drain cap. I now wheel mine over to the door way, drain spout out, then teeter and tip it down on the door edge to really get all the water out. There was a surprising amount left inside, so I hope this helps you in case you haven't already tried. :)

Answer:
We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this air conditioner. There have been no recalls on this product. The dehumidifying portion of this unit cannot be deactivated, as this is a normal part of the cooling process performed by all air conditioners. If the unit is filling quickly, then this means that it is very humid in the room being cooled, and it cannot evaporate the moisture fast enough to empty the tank before it is filled again. The only option that might assist with this would be to ensure that the filters are clean. If so, then there would be little else that could be done, other than checking why there is so much humidity in the room.

I am getting the impression the LG Portable Air Conditioner is not self evaporating. If so why is there a coupling which appears to be for a discharge hose to be connected, and, why is there a reserviour full indicatior, if the portable air conditioner is self evaporating. First glance it sound as if the unit is not self evaporating. If it is not self evaporating how is the moisture which is removed from the air, removed from the portable air conditioner?

Answer:
Read the manual much? You disconnect the exhaust hose and hook up a drain hose when using the unit in DRY (dehumidifier) mode. It is self evaporating only in COOL (A/C) mode.

Answer:
The portable air conditioner is a self-evaporating unit. It is designed to use the moisture that is extracted from the air to help with the sealed system operations, allowing the machine to be more energy efficient. However, some environments have a humidity level that is higher than others, to a point that not all the moisture can be utilized and evaporated in the necessary time frame. In these instances, the water must be collected and discharged. This is the purpose for the Reservoir Full indicator and the Water Outlet port.
