So far, I'm impressed...
I was going to paint our laundry room and ended up completely remodeling it instead. Ripped out the existing cabinets and tile floor and started fresh. We had our washing machine and dryer configured as a stackable unit, which really freed up space in our laundry room. I am 5'6" tall and can manage the dryer controls without a problem. I would suggest to LG that they would have the top front of the machine (where the control display is located# slanted more like this / so the controls would be easier to see for shorter people. The washing machine has a "water plus" option which I like for the loads which I think are heavily soiled. #I do a lot of yard work and I get dirty doing it.) One of the first loads I threw in were braided kitchen rugs. I was concerned that the "He" feature would not allow them to get a really good wash. I was extremely pleased that the rugs came out looking cleaner than they ever came out of my old washer, they looked like new! The washer door also has a magnetic door stop that allows me to leave the door standing about an inch open to promote air circulation. I am being very diligent about wiping off the inside of the door glass and inside the rubber gasket when I am finished with the laundry for the day. I leave the door wide open for about an hour after washing and then close it just to the magnetic stopper. I was told by the installer that the most important thing to do to avoid the mildew smell is to "read the manual, it's not your old washing machine." Excellent advice!! The washing machine also has a filter and drain hose which should be drained and cleaned once a month before using the "tub clean" feature. That makes sense to me. The dryer is smarter than me, Several times I have made what I think is the appropriate setting selections and the dryer gets the load dry much sooner than what I had expected. Works for me! My friend was visiting right after we bought the machines and used them both. She commented that she liked that the lint filter was so much handier than on her machine. It's at the front inside of the machine, not in the door. My husband was concerned about the Direct Drive motor, but LG has a 10 yr. warranty on it, much longer than other manufacture's warranty. That made him less anxious... I am very happy with our purchase so far and have recommended the LG washer and dryer to my friends and family. The only thing that would have made us happier was if the machines were completely and totally built in the USA.

Happy with it so far.
Have only had it a few weeks and am still adjusting to the controls. Had a very basic no frills dryer before. The few loads I have done have come out good. Love the large capacity so I can do fewer loads of laundry at a time. Makes very little noise when operating. Would probably give it all 5 stars once I've had it longer and become used to it.
