What People Are Saying

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most enjoyment for the money My wife and I have been through a couple of home theater units in the past, this one by far is the best. A whole lot of sound out of a unit with 500 watts. Past models were 1000 watts, this one sounds a lot better. I would recommend it to a friend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased Everything about it is great except for one problem that may have been operator error: On some DVDs a persistent closed captioning would appear and no matter what would not go away. Haven't seen this in last few DVDs viewed so it may have been coming from the TV itself, will see.

I am hooking up my speaker wires to the back of the receiver I would like to know does the black wire go to the ground or to the positive side thank you

Asked by: Buck1364Forest
We appreciate your interest in this Audio System. According to the information on page 13 of your owner’s manual, connect the BLACK STRIPE of each wire to the terminals marked ‘-‘ (minus or ground) and the other end to the terminals marked ‘+’ (plus).

I have a BH5140 and a tv which is not a smart TV and from a different brand. Are they compatible? Because it does not reproduce the sound. Also, the home theater does not conect to internet.

Asked by: PazC
Regrettably, we do not have enough information on what type of Audio Inputs or other inputs you have on your TV to advise you on the best way to connect the LG 3D-Capable 500W 5.1ch Blu-ray Disc™ Home Theater System with Smart TV, Model # BH5140S to it. Regardless of whether or not your TV is a "Smart" TV, you need the appropriate input and output connections to have it work properly. The BH5140S has to be connected to your router via its' Ethernet port for you to be able to get internet access the same way you would connect your computer to the routerfor the video if you don't have WiFi. The only Audio Input on this unit are the AUXILIARY(L/R) IN and the Optical Digital Audio In. If your TV has the RCA Stereo Outputs (Red/White) then you can connect those with the correct cable to the Auxiliary Inputs on the BH5140S to get your TV sound playing through it. The HDMI® Out can be connected to any HDMI® In on your TV (HDMI will transmit both video and audio). If your TV has an Optical Digital Audio Output on it, then you can connect that with a Optical Cable (also known as a Toslink cable) to the Optical Digital Audio Input on the BH5140S. Your TV may require you to go into the Audio/Sound settings to specify the audio output path. You can refer to your TV's owner's manual for instructions on how to do that...^IFV
